drag gen 4? when????
ben or whoever knows when is this kit comin out july?? im really debating a drag kit or a revhard ahh i just cant wait anymore ive been savin my pennies all year do u think the gen 4 will b that more expensive? better etc...??? ahh imma go cry in a corner now awating the release and hoping i make the right choice
Didnt someone post last week about the accord drag4. He had pics and all, but I dont think he gave any hard info on it. He also stated it wasnt going to be the finished product and was on the car solely for R&D purposes.
Maybe a search is in order here....

that kit looks identical to the fmax kit... which has been available for 3 years. is that a closed loop wastegate i see? only took them 4 revs to figure that out. bet the piping still isn't bead rolled. sorry if i sound a little bitter... but when i was at fmax, we would spend more time fixing drag kits than we did building our own. (which might explain the 8 week wait for an fmax kit.)

whats the main difference between the fmax drag revhard maxrev kits they all use the same turbo all the manifolds are cast all have fmic all have shytty turbonetics wgs some dont have all the piping i think thats revhard or maxrev some dont come with the filter again i thik thats maxrev revhard the fmax comes with the fm2 extra injector thing that noone uses and a msd btm which most peeps dont use because they eventually get hondata but the drag kit is around the cheapest most complete and most vouched for on hondatech ive been searchin this out with no solid answers for months now all peeps say is oo get the maxrev its better than the drag revhard etc... or get the fmax its the best bla bla bla PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION IN ONE DECISIVE SWOOP WITH A LOT OF DETAILS AND NO "O ITS JUST THE BEST" (sorry bout my ranting and raving but the search function sux and i only think its good for bout 3 month intervals)

I think you should do all the research yourself. Dont listen to what others say--everyone is biased on what they have--I would personally say go custom cause that was what I did.
I personnally like the maxrev manifold and downpipe. They are way better than the 3 big name kits. Save for hondata instead of wasting money on the fmu and high pressure inline. Theres a gb on turbo's again i think. Viren @vsracing.com has great prices on the Tial wg. 2 gb's for intercoolers are on at the moment. IC piping can be made by you. Injectors can be found for a good price nowadays.
What else do you want to know?
ive been researching for months no one has anything to say on WHY they are better.
like i said no one says why. this is what pisses me off and then i get flamed for askin the question no one tells u a straight answer the search function sux and has been sucking for a while now now people are sayin do custom do custom but no one says why except for the money factor. i would like a complete kit for convenience. noone sells pre-done mandrel bent ic piping except for kits i duno i just want some straight answers with explanations

Here you go, the end all be all
DISCLAIMER: I don't know much about FMAX kits so most of the following info is based on DRAG and RevHard kits.
Most of the kits come with extra **** you don't need and will end up replacing. They all differ, and there are pros and cons to each kit. Most people go with a custom setup so they will get better quality at around, or cheaper price.
Wastegate
As far as I know all the big three kits come with a deltagate. Delata wastegates suck as they cannot maintain constant boost pressure. This is what the wastegate is supposed to do. The tial fits the same flange and thus most with these kits upgrade to a Tial WG.
this equals: turbo kit price + 216.00 (VS Racing price for Tial 35mm)
Manifold
An equal length is the way to go for maxium power. For the most part cars driven on the street do not have equal length manifolds. The main deciding factor in manifolds is strength since the common "log style" manifold is pretty basic. The DRAG manifold has been known to crack. I do not know about the other two.
People prefer the maxrev manifold because it is TIG welded from thick *** Stainless Steel. IE it will not crack.
Another consideration is wastegate location. Some think that the DRAG manifold design leads to boost creep. I do not own one, so I have no first hand experience with this.
Turbo
If you buy a kit you don't get to pick your turbo specs. People like to pic their own specs to tailor their turbo to their vechicle and driving (racing) style.
Downpipe
As far as I know all the kits come with pretty shitty downpipes. They are too small and they don't have flexpipe. When running turbo you want a bigger exhaust. Also a flexpipe is used to keep the DP and manifold from cracking b/c of the motor moving in it mounts while the car is under load.
The maxrev downpipe is bigger and has flexpipe. THis is why people like it.
Intercooler Piping
The kits come with IC piping, if you go custom you have to fabricate your own. I think this and the downpipe are the single biggest reasons people go with a kit over going a custom setup. You can do your own IC piping, it isn't a really big deal, or you can buy come used or new that was meant to go with a kit. Unless you have an accord, 2nd gen integra, s2000, nxs, 2k1 civic, rsx or prelude the piping design is pretty simple. Couple U bends, a couple 90 degree turns. Not too big of a deal.
Intercooler
All the big three kits come with an IC. They all do the same thing. THe ICs that come with the kits are moderately sized. Some like the huge IC look and they get a bigger IC. Some need the bigger IC because of the boost they are pushing and the flow of the IC core. Most, no all of the "real" racers are not running a kit, they have picked every component to maximize power. And air to water IC may fits your needs better if you are planning a drag only car. The air to air ICs are better suited for the street.
Blow Off Valve (BOV)
At lower boost levels people choose BOVs just for the sound. At higher boost levels the BOV must be able to handle relieving the higher pressure. I think the big three kits come with HKS SS BOVs or the GReddy type S.
Fuel Delievery
The DRAG and REVHARD kits come with an inline pump and a FMU. This is not an ideal way to deliever the fuel because it is not very accurate. IF you buy a kit and upgrade to a standlaone you will not use these parts and consequently be wasting your $$.
The FMAX kit uses a MF2 system. This system incorporates 2 extra injectors mounted in the charge pipe to add the extra fuel required. There are very few people on this board running this setup. It is not very well recieved.
A lot on this board have switched to hondata or AEM EMS to handle fuel delievery. The addition of the standalone helps get you to that perfect AF ratio. BUT, you are going to need bigger injectors and a different intank fuel pump. This route is costly, but it WILL make your car run better.
Oil feed and return
The kits come with rubber hoses, people like stainless steel. Stainless steel is better.
Conclusion
I know I probably forgot something. Deal with it. This should help inform you about the basic differences, of course their are more detailed explanations, but I don't feel like typing an mile long response.
everyone just buys the DRAG for the chrome piping!
excellent marketing scheme DRAG uses.
