2 Reasons:
1. They crack.
2. Wastegate placement isn't optimal.

I don't have pictures of mine, but it cracked in two places and I welded it back up.

my first manifold was cracked. It cracked everywhere and someone welded it up. Then it held a lil then started cracking again. Then went to Jotech bought a revhard. Not the best but still hasnt cracked

My Gen 2 manifold cracked everywhere possible. Welded up one spot another one would pop up later. Not sure if the problems been fixed in the DRAG 3/4 manifolds but both of them I had spider-webbed where the logs met.

the design on the drag GEN 3 and 4 manifolds is MUCH better as far as cracking goes and if it does crack they replace it for free. the wastgate placement still sucks tho and has problems with gradual boost and boost spikes. I know alot of guys do some mild porting on that sport and they say it fixed the problems. also the deltagate isn't the best and this further hinders the placement of the wastegate

Exactly...it isnt the cracking as much as the wastegate placement which leaves much to be desired.

Not a huge deal, but not ideal. I havent seen any spiking issues with my 60mm exhaust on.

Yup, the wastegate placement sucks. If there's a decent amount of backpressure you'll be fine. Just wait till you step upto a larger exhaust. A friend used to run a 3" dp and 3" exhaust and the lowest boost it could hold was a bar..

My friend had a Drag manifold on his 2000 B18c5 2.5" downpipe flared to 3.0". It spiked from 9lbs to 15lbs. He went to an Inline Pro manifold (nothing else) and had no problem with the boost spiking.

The thing about most people on Honda-tech is they go off here say alot and they tend to love the band wagon approach.

Mine will hold boost with a 2.5"-3" dp and 3" exhaust, but if I run open downpipe it spikes to 15psi. No cracks though with 3 years of use, so I am happy

They could be cracking due to a lean condition or also due to no flex pipe on dp so as motor torques back there's no give in the the exhaust system. Mine has no cracks, been running for 6 months now. It made 259 whp 211 lbs, setup's in my sig. I'll be selling mine soon, just don't like they way it looks and upgrading the turbo so I got the inline pro manifold. I'll be running full race mani in near future.

Thats exacly the right answer to his question right there. I used to have one - didnt crack. But alot of people have. Id have to say the number of cracked manifolds are pretty low since there is about a billion drag manifolds in circulation.

Id say their biggest problem is the wastegate placement (ie off #1 runner). Its not optimal.

also..they could crack from not using the honda 2-piece exhaust manifold gasket...bolting it straight on with no gasket is a no no.

Another thing for spiking people ive seen around here were using a deltagate wastegate. But as soon as they switch to a TIAL no probs.

I know that if i do a 3" exhaust with not cat it will spike. Im doing a 2.5"DP to a 3" exhaust and with a 3" cat i do not think ill have any probs i also use a TIAL waste gate.

mine use to spike, went with tial wastegate it helped a little
but now i ported the runner where the wastegate flange is, it holds 14psi all the way to redline with open downpipe
no cracks yet

Do you have any pictures as to the extent of your porting?
