Its more like 2.25" if it has the stock greddy elbow and downpipe.

Do yourself a favor and get a 3" downpipe for it. Kteller makes one.

You'll see faster spool, slightly more power better Boost response better fuel economy and it will give you room to make more power in the future if you decide to. The real trick with the D series motors is to take the 18g off the B Series kits and run it on the d with a 3 inch downpipe and upgraded waste gate actuator .
I believe it was freshdot (thats his username) was making something like 330 horsepower on a D16 with an 18g Greddy turbo on an edelbrock manifold with the aforementioned 3 inch downpipe and upgraded wastegate actuator. I also believe he is selling that kit

Depends if he has a/c or not too. I kept a/c and power steering in my setup and it was difficult to the point I gave up on trying to get a 3" downpipe in there. I ended up going with a 2.5" downpipe that swells to a 3" as it goes under the oil pan. Even that is so tight the header wrap on the downpipe clears the a/c compressor by about 1/16" of an inch.

http://store.kteller.com/kteller/kte.../i-404469.aspx

That is the link to the K tell her down pipe, I was wrong however as it is only 2.5 inches in diameter not 3. It also appears to retain the stock Greddy turbo elbow which is where the real restriction is. The Greddy elbow causes waste gate issues and chokes overall exhaust flow.

what the owners of the 18 G kit do is remove the Greddy elbow all together and replace it with a 1 piece 3 inch downpipe from turbine outlet onward. I will dig up the old thread on the 1 piece downpipe for you as it's a pretty helpful thread and I will also see if a one piece 3 inch downpipe is a possibility for your application. No it will have to be custom built as no one really makes an off the shelf version since there are so many set up possibilities.

I would also port the waste gate flapper hole as this will improve boost control and overall exhaust flow.

lol that's gross dude. So you're cruising around and your back is stuck to the seat, your arms are sticking to the door panels and your steering wheel is all clammy and nasty. You get to work and smell like you just got done working out at the gym No thanks.

Yup that's one way to do it. The civic is much more fun to drive than my truck so I keep the a/c in it.

I want comfort, I drive a comfortable car, ready to work.. Fun... is what the fun car is for.

I mean ****, did Batman worry about A/C when he was in the batmobile? Hell no. That's what the Gallardo was for when he was just trying to chill and be cool.

Yeah I suppose if you built the car as just a toy it makes sense. I like to drive mine all the time though, it's not just a toy. I use it as a DD in fact.

Lol I don't really sweat when I'm in my cars that don't have air conditioning.

you can have a full 3 inch downpipe that replaces the elbow and still keep air conditioning but it's a very tight fit, but it is doable

Yup super tight. Here's a 3" downpipe I started making for my car. This was so tight I had probably 1/16" of an inch between that pipe and the a/c compressor. Ideally I'd need a different manifold or turbo or something to use a 3" downpipe so I opted for a 2.5". Considering my power levels I don't think I gave up much of anything using 2.5"

I have a friend who made 300whp pushing the 15g to the limits, so you should be able to make a very fun DD out of the 15g without upgrading to the 18g. The block will need to be ground down for the 18g.

Is the friend you? I see your sig lol. Just kidding man but what is your setup? I see 310 whp at 18 lbs in your sig. What rods, pistons etc. to do that? How reliable is the setup?

Nope he's The Lobster.

My setup is FJ rods, 75.5mm Vitaras, T3/T04e 50 trim turbo. Ebay cast manifold , 2.5" dp, 560cc injectors.

Here's my build thread if you're bored
