GT28RS with Greddy Downpipe and Manifold...
For a B-series greddy kit, will the GT28RS bolt right up to the Greddy manifold and downpipe with no modification?

Re: (Spec R)
I know the turbo to manifold will bolt up but i am not sure about the down pipe. As far as flanges go they will fit due to the 18g being a garrett/mitsubishi hybrid, but i am not sure the difference in height and size etc from the 18g to the gt28rs. When switching to that turbo you really should ditch the 2in dp if thats what you plan on using, kinda defeats the purpose of upgrading. ATP turbo makes a great V-band discharge fo the gt28r, i would say look into that.

Re: (Spec R)
VERY interested in this topic, im thinking of the same upgrade but having a 2.5 DP fabbed up and into a 2.5 or 3in exhaust
has anyone done this? Pics?
THanks

The downpipe can be diched, but it is the DOWNPIPE ADAPTER that fits directly to the turbine side of the turbo and bends in a configuration that allows past the A/C bracket. Taking the Downpipe adapter off and porting it open (A lot of DSM/Mitsu guys do this on their 02 housings) would help quite a bit, then you can have a downpipe made to fit the the 3 angle flange of the downpipe adapter..

on my setup I have a d16y8 with a gt28r, Im using the GReddy log style manifold and it bolted right up (both t25 inlet/outlet flanges) and then had a 2.5" downpipe custom fabbed...

Re: (Integra21)
spool and gt28rs will support slightly higher whp, i have seen peoplemake 340whp on the 18g and i have seen that on the gt28rs, i'm thinking the ballbearing center will help a lot in spool

Re: (Soccerking3000)
i wouldnt imagine the gt28rs has the wastegate flapper issue with it being too small for higher boost and needs to be ported right?
spool is pretty impressive on the 18g though.
do you guys think that it is a worth-while upgrade on stock internals?

the flapper on the gt28rs is actually pretty big and i havent heard about any problems, you'll have better top end at higher psi with the gt28rs i would suppose as well

the gt28rs is a much better turbo, you will make more down low and mid with a mild gain up top.
The real difference is going to be the boost response. Your car will feel more like a torquey big displacement motor, boost becomes throttleable over ~4000 rpms, not something you have to wait for.
I've run t3, T3/t4, and now the GT28rs (with .82 exhaust, tw drop in)
GT28RS takes the cake!
