Default The down side of Drag.

What are the negatives of Drag kits? I often hear about the fit and finish not being so great. Peices do not line up correctly, manifolds cracking, etc. Those of you runnign the kit what has your experience been both positive and negative regarding the quality of the kit.

Thanks.

off th top of my head :
1. TURBO LAG
2. Delta wastegate
3. Chrome piping
4. Manifold

thats about it....for now....kinda steep 3 g's......greddykit w/ i/c and BOV about 2500.....no lag, good manifold...good piping internal w/g....and a good 200 hp at about 10psi

The price of the Civic Gen 2 kit is:

$2699.95 - 10% HT discount = $2429.96

what's so good about the greddy manifold? it can fit under a heat shield? internal wastegates are not as good, and the greddy turbo has more lag then my drag bb turbo, so saying it has no lag is utter bullpoo poo.

The main disadvantages of the drag kit are the oil return setup, the manifold design if your running 3" from the downpipe back, and of course the POS deltagate. but anyone wanting to do things right will upgrade the oil return line and upgrade the wastegate. other then that i have no complaints with the drag kit

Wow 200hp at 10psi. With good tuning a drag kit can make 85hp more just like my friend's did.

The oil return line is pathetic on the drag kit. It's a peice of rubber hosing and hose clams. The manifold isn't great either. The wastegate sucks, but upgrade to Tial, get the oil return line made with SS line and AN fittings and your pretty much good to go.

I'm pretty sure he was quoting numbers from EX's. People put down 200whp at 6psi with the Greddy kit on Si's.

go custom. entire turbo hardware cost for me (manifold, wastegate, turbo, downpipe, bov, piping, clamps, hoses, vaccuum lines, gaskets, tees, other fittings, oil, etc.) is about $1900. hondata + 440's + fpr + fuel pump = ~$1000 roughly

then add turbo timer, boost controller, gauges, whatever

$2900 to start for me

Greddy turbo kits are like your first bicycle!! It doesnt get fun until you take off the training wheels! Spools fast and then runs outta juice...

true, but anytime you;re trying to make a non-turbo car a turbocharged car, you're going to have some fitment issues....
