Does race gas go bad quickly?
I recently crashed my winter beater and had to bring out my GSR for daily driving.
My car ran great the last time I drove it hard, early November at 50 degrees. Now, in 10-20 degree weather, I'm getting detonation like never before. I can even get detonation at 10" vacuum in 5th gear.
I ask about race gas because I filled it up in Novemeber with 1/2 a tank of 94 octane and 1/2 a tank of 100 octane unleaded.
Could the 2-3 month old race gas be causing problems?
TIA.

why the hell are you getting detonation in vaccume? that is deffinitly not normal!! i have seen cars sit for a year with vp c16 leaded race gas and have no problems running. i cant say positivly its not the gas, but probably not. try checking your timing. are you sure its detonation your hearing?
I have a J&S Safeguard that is picking up detonation where it never picked it up before.
I set all my VAFC settings that were negative to zero and checked that my FPR's are all still connected.
Fuel pressures appear normal.
I'll check timing and compression this weekend. It's easy enough not to boost, since the snow tires I have on can't hold boost in the first three gears anyway...

Anyone uses Sta-Bil in their tank during storage? http://www.goldeagle.com/sta-bil/faqs.htm
