do you really need a turbo timer?
i'm having trouble installing mine cause of my alarm and i was just wondering, do you really need one? can't you just wait in the car for 2 minutes to let the turbo cool down and then shut the car off yourself?
any opinions?

after going through this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=572628, i decided not to install the timer.. i don't think oil temps will change much if you let the car idle for a minute or two..
but i can see importance to allowing turbine/compressor to stop spinning before shutting the car of.. it can be done at idle, but oil pressure isn't as high
this is what i do before parking.. - i simply drive in vacuum for 1-2 minutes before parking. then, let it idle for 30 seconds..

so get an alarm that works with a turbo timer. If you want it that bad. I would do it just because letting the car run is not going to hurt the turbo, but just shutting it off will. plus you need the alarm, cuz you might get theived if it's not on there.
Get you an Audiovox aps996 alarm. It has a pit stop feature that allows you to remove the keys and leave the car running. Just arm the alarm and it shuts the engine off. Works great.

I'm pretty sure the turbo stops spinning almost immediately after turning off the car. As it's spinning it's trying to pump air...but it can't because the engine isn't taking it in. That would stop it spinning pretty quickly.
Besides, Corky Bell said it stops almost immediately...

i don't want it that bad. you really only have to wait like 30-45 seconds, then you can turn off the car. its not like i boost prior to me parking somewhere.

from what i read about turbo timer. it's not mainly about leting the turbo cool, it suppose to also let oil run through so it won't settle and have build up in the turbo.
