just a thought maybe the one you are using is leaking. Or have you blanked off the wastegate completely and still get 7 psi in which case I agree with you why even bother with one.

Ok, based on the question you asked, run to your car with toolbox in hand. Remove the turbo kit and replace stock components. Slap on some nos stickers and call it a day. But on a serious note, search

if you can only make 7psi on that small of a turbo you either have a leak (maybe internal waste gate is open?) or your turbo is done.

it might be the charge piping, or it might be a pre-turbo exhaust leak.

might even also be an exhaust that is too restrictive.

good luck.

oh and yes, you need a waste gate.

thanx for the great reply u always have the best ones thanks man. turbo leaks oil so it might be on the way out.

and i do have a manifold leak pre turbo. also i do have very small charge pipes...2" i beleive but there is no leaks.

and when i am driving i dont hit 7 psi till 5 or 6 k. seems like it builds slowly since it starts boosting at about 2k.
its basically every k RPM gives me another 1 psi maxing out at 7. i have an internal spring waste gate i think its closed because i can move the bar over and it will spring back other then that i wouldnt know how to test the wastegate.

^^^ you can make 20 PSI with a wastegate also.

the T25 isnt a bad choice for single slammers..not too much power, but still a fun car to drive.

You def have a leak if the boost is coming on slow. Check all couplers and clamps.. try not to use too many. If your motor mounts are shot, it will keep screwing with the charge piping. Welcome to the boosted world!

Also.. I would weld parts together and not use couplers.. Use the couplers only in areas you need to remove the charge pipes.

fix any pre-turbo exhaust leaks (remember exhaust gas is what spins the turbo so you can make boost in the first place)

what is your waste gate set at? how are you trying to increase your boost level? your MBC might not be hooked up correctly.

if the internal waste gate is holding the flapper arm nice and tight to the housing its most likely not leaking enough to cause you any headaches.

i dont currently have a MBC but when i had one i didnt have any luck with it increasing boost. i am somewhat interested in a digital boost controller that may be my next step. i have no idea how i would change the setting or what it is really set at my boost guage reads 7 psi
heres a picture of my waste gate.its very small its about as big arround as a red bull can if taht makes since lol

You def have a boost leak! Check all your intercooler piping. My car did this once before and a coupler had rolled out from under a t-bolt clamp. I'd hit 18psi at 9k rpm.
