Sorry I am kind of a newb when it comes to scattersheilds too....so this peice wraps around the tranny so if it grenades it wont scatter? Hence the name: scatter sheild???

I don't really get it how that thin band can keep flying pieces at bay. The bellhousing is alot thicker than that weak band. We need Earl to set us straight on this

obviously it does because its madated that everyone that runs faster than 11.99 must run one. Ask Earl all you want. his son's gotta run one too. Unless you are planning on racing . i wouldnt bother with getting one . but thats just me . i have yet to really see a flywheel shatter in a Honda. but i got one becuase i have no choice.

bellhousing is made of aluminum, that peice is made of steel...

and the reason it works, is because the flywheel has built up tons of centrifugal force, and if one ever lets go, its going to pull itself apart and fling itself in a circle, and it will absorb a large majority of the force, because it is placed around the radius of the flywheel...

OEM ones wont really shatter, shaved ones do. I have seen a DSM one blow. nice big hole in the hood too.

remember that dude in the RSX that misshifted and tore his block in half? thats kind of what the aftermath looks like.
