I don't know much about turbos yet but I'v been wondering do different turbos like hks or garrett but the same size as my mitsubishi turbocharger 57 trim increase hp or decrease hp?
Second question
I got a 94 hatch with b20 with mitsubishi turbocharger 57 trim running 7psi atm, If i go external wastegate do i have to get it retuned? and should i go with bigger turbo? it's just gunna be a street car and i'm just looking to get around 250-300hp

good luck getting over 250 on a stock B20. Which is still great power for an OE powerplant..

Changing to an external and same size turbo wont change anything you can feel on the butt dyno.

idk about name brand, i think once i get my money together i'm gunna go shopping on craigslist for external wastegate, turbo and parts, as for my stock block i plan to build in the next month or two if everything goes good. but would 57 trim be good enough to make about 300hp?

unless you know what you're looking for this is a good way to go broke with nothing

in my area many honda-turbo parts are overpriced and worn.

you can get a brand new precison 57 trim for $599

people often ask $450-500 for used ones IF they even come available. very rarely do choice pieces come up for sale. 98% of what i see are junkyard pulls and worn no name turbos.
