DIY Ceramic coat
the parts store has i think duplicolor ceramic engine and exhaust paint in silver or black. i used it to paint my block but i was thining about having my turbo housing and manifold dipped and cleaned of rust and coating them. the paint says that it can resist 1500degrees if you paint the stuff and then bake them for like 2 hrs at 400 degrees. anyone seen this stuff, it looks really nice and it looks like it will be rigid.
how hot does the manifold and exhaust housing get?

No hotter than 1500°, but you have to have a perfectly clean part to keep the stuff on.
Also, the paint has absolutely no thermal barrier properties. Just for looks.

I used the 1500 degree on one of my old downpipes... Cleaned it thoroughly, sprayed it, then baked it... Still peeled
I now use Jet-Hot and I love it...

If its ceramic paint, yes it does. It has excellent heat retention properties.
