Default Distributor King Problems

Hello Hond-Techers,

When the old distrubutor went bad the car would start and run but if you mashed the gas hard it would buck or fall on its face, not really go, but if you eased the gas the car went just fine. Also right before the distributor went out I started reading like 16-18 part throttle up a hill on the wideband when before it would read about 15-15.5 in the same conditions. So whatever was starting to go "bad" was making my car run lean.

I bought a distributorking distributor off of ebay and threw it on and the car ran great again. Part throttle up hills was back to 15.5 and no bucking or hesitating when mashing the gas. That only lasted about 2 weeks and the problems started acting up again. Well one of the problems, the running lean up hills.

I heard the ignitors or ignition control modules were junky in the distributor king distributors so I switched the ignitors between the old distributor and new one.

Cars runs the same with them switched....still lean up hills but no bucking.

1st Question: Was it a fluke my afr's were better after changing distributors? Maybe the crappy afr's are due to something else, but why would a new dist. fix it for a while then?

2nd Question: Any other parts I could switch out or remedies for this problem?

3rd Question: What the heck is going bad inside the distributors thats making my car run crappy?

Thanks Guys,
98civic94gsr

I did leave out that I believe my idle was bouncing like 1000-2000 rpms with the old distributor where the new distributor does not do that.

You get what you pay for....

Return that junk, bite the bullet and get an OEM unit.
