You can't really say that people should be jumping off the SC61 bandwago on the GT28RS (or really even be on a bandwagon, for that matter). The SC61 is double the horsepower (340 vs 680) and is a T3/T4 hybrid, so you're really not comparing apples to aplles.

Which is best for you depends on the engine application and the kind of performance driving you want to do.

I believe he was talking about people jumping on the GT35R not the Tater ...more info on the GT30 Rod!!!

I don't know if the SC61 is really a bandwagon, it has been shown to make great power over a T3/60-1 and spool quicker. I think a lot of the people on here with stock B18B's and B16's have bought SC61's because they heard of how much power it will make though

Well, I see plenty of ppl asking about the SC61 who are going to be making FAR less than 680HP. And the top HP produced isn't directly related to spool, but it is somewhat related, so I think some of these ppl would benefit maybe from going with a turbo that will support 400-450hp and benefit from quicker spool (which I opine is more fun.)

So, no I would never compare the SC61 to the GT28 series, as they are totally seperate beasts. Rod brought up a really good point in PM, regarding the GT30R and I'd ask that he share it with this thread.

The Sunny GTiR used T28

The New Garrett Turbos = NGT = shortened to GT are much better, more aero efficient impeller blades and dual ball bearing rollers.

You guy would be amazed how much more turbos are over here A GT28r costs about $2000

Its called a Disco potato because of the shape of the compressor map.... not sure what a disco potato actually looks like though

The Disco Potato is the original Nissan test car the turbo was first installed in - a Sentra w/ an ugly disco-ball paint job. I believe it's discussed in that SCC article linked to above.

I'd be interested in how the larger GT30R works on something like an F22 or H22 . . . .

also anybody looked at a GT25/40R? They look like a turbo in between a GT28RS and a GT30R. You can look at it at http://www.atpturbo.com

Well turns out the"new" GT30R is just the GT30R with 52 trim wheel in stead of 56 ...and ummmm no we haven't been talkin about the GT30R<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Daemione &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

Not sure about any "new" GT30-R's. There has been a bit of an issue about the exhaust housing A/R's being too large for Sport Compact street cars. Garrett's downloadable catalog (www.turbobygarrett.com) shows tese are available in either a 0.82 or 1.06 A/R. We are doing a version of this with our .63 A/R exhaust housing so it spools better on small displacement engines.

I am NOT a turbo expert, this is my first time every sizing a turbo. But this is some #'s i came up with for the H22A.. Anyone want to critique this please?

I think that your VE is too low. It just feels like an H22 should flow more than 40lbs/min at 25psi with that compressor.

Is it true that the S Housing spools faster? Thats what I was told by a "knowledgeable" source. Would a .63A/R and and E Housing work good for a street setup, and also boast 300+whp numbers at 14 psi? Or would i need the S Housing?

Oh by the way, atpturbo.com said the "new" GT30R is a 53 Trim( so guess it is "new" b/c there is no 53 trim right now right?)

Everybody read that. Twice. And if you don't understand it, read it again. The smallest GT30R exhaust housing available is a .82 ar. I would hazard a guess that that will cancel out the fast spool characteristics of the dual-BB and GT wheel. I'm talking about B series motors, I don't feel qualified to speculate about slapping this on an H22.

Thanks very much rod.

They make .63A/R hot side for the GT30R. Right now im looking at a 53Trim GT30R .63A/R with wither a S or E Housing (Leaning towards the S ). Should spool pretty quickly(4000 or so) and have bad *** topend too!
