there are bigger versions, the GT30 and GT35 etc. 2/3rds the cost, HA! If you want a cheaper hobby throw bars of gold into the ocean.
GT means that it is using the garrett GT wheel technology, the number is I believe the wheel trim. And R stands for dual-ball-bearing (woot). I think the S stands for a T04S exhaust housing.
If anyone knows a place to source these turbos for 100 or 200 less, let me know.
Oh, and from what I hear, the edelbrock kit for the civics comes with the GT28RS
Well, I just checked the website, and edelbrock will sell you the GT28 turbos here: http://www.edelbrock.com/autom....html

Hence the word "Street" ....have you driven a turbo honda with more than 350whp with street tires?

The GT28RS uses a T25 exhaust housing. It is mated to a .60a/r T3 compressor housing w/ a 60 trim wheel. The exhaust housing is a .86 a/r T25 with a 79 trim wheel. FYI, a turbo with these exact specs, minus the BB center section and GT wheels, can be had for like $700. It is OEM equipment on the Nissan Pulsar GTi-R. I used one on my B20 project car, long story short, 210HP@6000, 190tq@6000 175tq from 3500 rpm. NASTY.

trust me, i dont know what the f*ck cheap is. but 1200 vs 550 for a gt vs a t3\4; you know what i'm thinking. so what the f*ck; now do we get a t3/to4e 57 trim, a prcision sc61, or the new gt sereis. figure ave: 239-471 cfm, @ 2.1 p/r. i think a t3/to4e 60 trim @ 80k rmp might just work. also its $ at 550. ::: sorry, drunk right now, bare with me.

~You just broke your own rule, I thought it had to be tech related to post what you have.... "I'll be running the GT35R" doesnt seem like much tech advice to me except someone showin off what they got?
...But i like the setup, i wish inline pro would make a d series manifold, they just look so good

btw Art since yur a dealer for inline pro what is a good way to try and get inline pro to maybe consider making a manifold like that for the D series? I mean they are extremely nice and I want one bad, because you know as well as i do that there really arent many high quality manifolds for d series under 500 bucks.....There would be a lot of people buying them also and the only difference would be the head flange? I just dont understand......Its an outrage and discriminative against the D series followers of america and other countries!
yeah, i was looking at the compressor map for the disco potato and wanted one immediately! perfect for my "nice" daily driver setup. then i saw the pricetag... im gonna go with a t3, and preferably the super 60 if i can find one, but more probably the turbo t-bird or svo mustang t3 due to costs and being in school...

Ya, the GT28RS is for street cars, and those wanting more have the option of the larger GT30,5's.
And Art, we all know you got a new turbo, :shakesfist:

I think this is why they dont make them. It wouldnt be under $500. I dont mean to offend anyone, but a lot of companies do not want to get involved with honda's anymore because they are so cheap.

We think that that GT28RS is really a pretty bitchin' turbo. It's a great match for some of the smaller Honda engines and comes on like a light switch because of the smaller T25 inlet flange and ball bearing center section. This would be my choice for a number of different cars if you were racing stoplight to stoplight.
They are pricey, though. The GT28RS retails for $1,499 while the GT28R (rated about 40-hp less) goes for $960.00. Even so, I just sold my last ten disco potato's and am waiting for more.
I'm told the name game from within Garrett, which is why they list this on their literature. It was developed by one of their application engineers for his own car and worked so well that they decided to add it to their own line. None of the other turbos in their downloadable catalog has a name.

I thought I seen those inline pro manifolds selling for $499.00 but i must have looked that up after a good night of partying or something because I see now they go for like 625-650 bucks....but still I would consider buying one for a D series and im sure other people would too, they seem to be very high quality and good power could be made off one of those....but oh well corporate america knows best i guess, so ill just go back to wishing i had a lovefab sst

SFP makes a pretty decent D series manifold for under 500. I had it for a while before i totalled my car and just sold it for 350 shipped. Too bad the guys at SFP are a bunch of top notch A-holes and have the worst customer service i've EVER seen.
