Default DIS Ignition with AEM standalone

I'm planning on using the MSD DIS-2 ignition with the AEM standalone on a boosted LS/VTEC, with the upgraded blaster SS coil. Would I need one or two of the SS coils for this setup? Also is this a good ignition setup for the engine listed producing 300-350whp? Even if it might be overkill, going $100 more for the wasted spark setup seems like a pretty good deal.

you really dont need a dis ign. If you want to run the dis2, your switching to a indivual coil system. In order to run it like this, the regular ss coils wont work. You would have to find a coil, maybe of a GM that has to spark plug outlets. A dis2 has outlets for coils, but u need 4 to make your car run. Thats why you need the special coil.

Yah thats what I'm trying to figure out, I know the DIS-2 in wasted spark config can be used with the AEM EMS system, but I don't know what coils to use to actually have 4 plug outputs.

Think I'll call MSD on Monday but I think I found what I need. They make a GM 2 post coil pack for imports, I think I need two of those then and run the firing off the ECU from the distrib or a crank trigger. I know this is incredible overkill and benefits are going to be slim to none but it isnt really much more ($$wise) than the 6A box with a coil anyway. And why not try something different

thats what I was saying...its a gm type coil. And yeah, you will give the ign. box a direct signal from the ecu. Like your saying...it might be a total waste but I like it cause its something different from the norm. and at least your going the extra effort to be original.

b4 you go out and buy the EMS, go to your tuner and talk to him about the ems. and ask him what his experiences are with the thing. just go hondata and save yourself and extra year on your life because of stress

Actually I'd be tuning it with some help from a friend and have access to a chassis dyno at my school. I have more experience with the EMS than any other standalone and really didn't wanna learn a second type at this time (in the future definately though). I wish I would have started with Hondata because of all the good things I hear about it but I'm really starting to get the EMS now. Thanks for the input though!
