Default Differential gone?

I took my car to the track last week and I thought I had broke an axle or intermediate shaft. I just pushed it on the trailer and took her home. So I jack the car up today to see what side went out and to my surprise everything looked okay. My question is, what can I do to find out if I blew my differential? The car goes into all gears including reverse. I remember when we were pushing it onto the trailer it was hard to push the car forward but easier to push the car backwards. What are some symptoms of a bad differential? Thanks

Put the car on jackstands. Turn it on and put it in gear. If the clutches on the differential are burnt out, only one wheel will spin. (I'm assuming you have an LSD)

I changed both axles on my car before I figured out my diff. was blown. If I put the car in gear and let out the clutch it would make a loud whining noise. The whining noise would get louder as the rpms went up. What was weird though was the car would barely move in reverse but it wouldn't move forward. I had a stock jdm honda LSD (non-clutch type) in my car. After I removed the LSD from the tranny I discovered that some of the spider gears had broken. Good luck!

I don't have an LSD. Its just a stock LS tranny differential. If the differential blew up would this destroy the tranny? Or I could use the same tranny but just get a new differential? I did a search on this and a guy posted up if the differential is blown then the tranny casing is no good. Is this true? Thanks

Depends, if you shear the diff pin...it will go flying through the case.
