Default different types of s/c

i just learned something new today...a positive displacement blower? what is it? whats the diference between a PD blower, centrifugal, and roots? how do they're power curves comapre to one another? why do the power curves differ the way they do?

that was god info, but that still doesnt answer my question. what is a positive displacement blower?? is that the roots? how do all these diferent superchargers differ in power curves??
