Default The difference between ball bearing, and a normal turbo?

I am just curious.. What is the difference between a ball bearing turbo, and a normal like mitsubishi turbo, like for example in the greddy kit?

also, what do you guys think of the greddy turbo kit?

Ball Bearing turbo will have a faster spool up time than a non BB turbo. Greddy kit is good for having some fun and making some power to play around with, good bolt on kit, fitment is supposed to be really good. If you want to make big numbers though, a Greddy kit isn't going to cut it. You'll need a bigger turbo, better exhaust manifold, external wastegate (Greddy kit comes with internal I do believe).

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

follow up question. if a turbo has an internal wastegate, can you convert it to an external wastegate later down the road?

yeah just take off the rear housing and weld the wastegate door and take off the actuator.

So what do you think a better turbo kit would be?

Personally I am going for more power than the Greddy kit can safely provide, so I am doing a custom kit.

Yes, as it spools up faster and thus makes more power earlier. It should also be slightly more efficent, which is always a plus.

Im going to say 7-9 psi.... Really you should think about what your goals are...300+WHP you better going with a diffrent kit.

but if you want streetablity and less problem with smog then greddy is a good kit.
