Default Dialing out overlap in cams

How do I do this??? I need to dial out the overlap or as much as I can because I am using the NOS kit. Do I need to retard the exhaust and advance the intake? Advance the exhaust and retard the intake? Or is it the total opposite like retard both intake and exhaust or advancing both??? I need help soon guys, the races start this Saturday and I have the last appointment at the dyno on Friday. I am running a 125 shot on the NOS kit # 02040 and on the dyno I am only gaining 73 hp. I think that I am losing the other 50hp thru blow-by, because of both intake and exhaust valves being open at the same time.

Advance the exhaust and retard the intake to cut overlap. Two or three degrees each at the most. This also has the affect of moving the valve away from the piston (which is good). Hope u have good valve springs, however

earl can you please explain the valve springs statement? I've considered getting cam gears to dial out overlap but haven't thought about valve springs at all...

Valves will float with stock springs when you start squeezing at high rpms. If that happens, you will bend valves. Better investment is good springs and titanium retainers than the cam gears.

All set up react differently but the dyno doesn't lie. Just got to experiment but take baby steps until you're in control.

I believe blow-by is when oil leaks through the rings. Revision is where there is too much overlap and the partially burnt gases contaminate the intake tract.
