Hi, it seems the longer I have my car, the MORE the J&S Dual monitor seems to pick up detonation. Before it would only pick up detonation at higher revs in 4th gear, now it picks it up at part throttle and at lower rpms.

It seems like something on my car is deteriorating and causing this to happen.

I have a Crane HI-6 Ignition, step 7 NGK plugs, MSD plug wires etc.

 

try replacing the plugs, see if that fixes your problem

 

could also be carbon deposits building up. whats your setup? do you run rich alot?

Well, I used a fuel system cleaner (which I hoped would fix the problem). I JUST put the plugs in like 1500 miles ago. Gapped at 30 thou.

I do run rich a lot...set up is:
1998 Type-R (70,000 miles)
Drag Gen 3
Greddy Evolution Exhaust
Test Pipe
J&S Safeguard V2 and Dual monitor
Crane HI-6 Ignition and Coil.

Toss the Crane HI-6 ignition and keep the coil, change the plugs do not use platnium, also change your fuel filter. Honda and Acura makes good enough ignition systems so the Crane box is a waste
