Default Detonation

So i was out at the track last night and my car was running good first couple of pulls. I blew charge pipes a few times (my clamps suck, im getting new ones) But anyways, After about 3 passes my car started to detonate after like 5-6k during 3rd and 4 gear pulls. So i stopped (obviously that isnt good). I drove it home, its fine under boost. Today i get up and try to figure out whats going on and i get out my timing gun and for some reason my timing was way off like at 0btc so i adjust back to 16 which is like way back on the dizzy for some reason. And take the car out to see whats going on. I go to do a 3rd gear pull and i notice my boost gauge isnt reading, and i hear a big pop. I look back and see my charge pipe in the middle of the road. So i have that now its all dented. But after inspecting my car i notice the vaccum line off the bov to the boost gauge is completely in half, and a decent hole in the vacuum line to the fpr. This may have happened last night, could the vacuum leaks be a cause for detonation (maybe the one to the fpr?) Im confused, my car was just tuned a few weeks ago and running fine.

Do you even really know what detonation is ?

Do you know what it really sounds like ?

Just making sure...

A lot of people that are inexperienced somehow confuse ignition breakups for detonation.

Get your self new couplers, t bolt clamps & a tuner.

Im not ruling out an ignition break out,
What i experienced, happened to me and my tuner while tuning.
He called it detonation.. But right after my dizzy went.
I just replaced the dizzy 2 days ago..

People use headphones and a microphone on the engine to hear detonation. Posting up a video of your drag race asking "is this detonation?" leads right back to.....

It sounds like ignition, but I'm not there and can't test anything out. Go talk to your tuner

You think gapping them will help with the break up?

If your tuner was calling a missfire "detonation", you need to find another tuner...

Did the timing belt slip a tooth?

definately think making the gap smaller would help... yours is to big its blowing the spark out... sounds crazy but... i thought connecting rods liked being in the darkness of an oilly crank case too

if anything it should help out

I cant count how many times someone has been talking about "detonation" to me when in reality it was just ignition breakup. Gap your plugs down and i'm sure if it doesn't solve the issue then i'm sure it will at least make the issue better. If it doesn't solve it completely or if you have to go insanely low on the gap then something is fucked with your ignition or you are possibly having fuel issues with the tune.

You will rarely hear detonation without some kind of listening device. If you can hear it over a loud *** exhaust then you have got serious tuning issues that need to be worked out.
