Detonating at high rpms big time!!!
Whern dynoing a few weeks ago, I used the BCPR7ES11 although we had gapped them at 25 to reduce detonation at high rpms. The car would idle like crap at 25 so I asked around on which colder plug to use and viren recommended the r5671-8, and gap them at 32. So I did and on the streets they worked fine. Although at high rpms at 23 psi it would detonate. So I reduced the gap to 26 and no luck, actually I felt like they got worse. Now a friend of mine is telling to go with a 9 heat range, although I am just thinking of going back to the track this Sunday and throwing in a set of the BCPR7ES11 and gapping them at 25 and see what happens. Also I am running an MSD 6A with an MSD HVC coil (the blue one) with NKG wires. That should be more than sufficient for a T3/T4B?
Any advice to reduce my stress

Why do you think spark is your problem? Detonating is usually caused by the lack of fuel, Put a guage on your hood or under your wiper arms and take it for a pass and see if your fuel pressure drops where it usually detonates. Could also be not enough octane to support that boost level, 20+ is BIG BOOST.
What are you using for tuning?
Closing the gap will not cure detonation. Closing the gap is done to keep the spark from being blown out by the boost. Detonation/ping is caused by to much timing or not enough fuel.Lower the boost until you can solve the problem....

what octane gas are u running?
how much timing advance are u running?
and how are u keeping an eye on the a/f ratio?

I'm using the DFI gen 7.
I was running C16.
Timing under high boost was at 21 degrees.
All I changed from what we did at the dyno was the plugs.
Could it be the 6A not cranking enough spark?

If you were running on c16 and your timing (not base but actual timing under boost) was 21 degrees you are running lean. Im up near 28 or 30 degrees and i boost more than 23 psi. This is on a 10.5:1 motor also.
He was running lean, the plugs were white! i didnt know he was running C16, and when i looked at his timing maps, he was running around 24-25 and i told him to back it down to like 18-19 to see if the detonation would stop. i guess he needed more fuel, he's Base VE reads in ratio (ie. 14.7) and he was raising the number to add more fuel, but its the opposite (leaner), i think thats what got him confused. I dont think its the spark plugs or the ignition system, just have to be conservative with timing and add some fuel.

No Dandee, I was adding more fuel. When you were there I leaned it by accident. But besides that, I threw in Lawrence's original program from the dyno and it was detonating like crazy. Plus my laptop went dead so I left. I'm gonna go back this weekend and try it with the BCPR7ES11 gapped at 25 like we had on the dyno. I should have been running in the 12's. My second run I had,
60'................2.073
330...............5.16
1/8...............8.504
MPH..............85.32
1000.............10.998
1/4...............13.346
MPH..............91.30
So i'm gonna go back and see what happens.

REALLY........doesn't that seem kinda high under boost? Have you checked to see if your distributor is in sync with your ecu?

OOOOOOK, there is nothing wrong with the ecu.
Dandee, why did you sell me out today?
