Destroying clutch friction disc - WHY?
OK in the process of my ongoing rebuild I noticed that three of the springs on my clutch disc are becoming very loose and the tabs that hold them in place are worn nearly off.
This is an ACT Xtreme street clutch and I've never made more than 250 hp to the wheels. Have never raced and rarely drop the clutch. I think I drove more gently with the turbo than without. I just don't GET it... this is how my OEM clutch failed and now a heavy duty ACT clutch is going the same way (PP and disc are otherwise in like-new condition)... Is this a known defect or do they all do this naturally?

Re: Destroying clutch friction disc - WHY? (SiRkid)
it all depends on how you drive your car. i know people plenty of people who have never had a single problem with their tranny from running a solid disc. in fact, i'm still running my original ACT extreme from 98'. i can't say the same for people i know who run sprung discs though.
