Default Dependable Turbo?

I'm just wondering will a stock b16a with 6-8lbs of boost be dependable for a daily driver? Also if I build it up and run more boost will it stay dependable as long as I have it tuned? Also open to suggestions as of how to keep turbo dependable as a daily driver.

the dependability of a turbo car is related to 3 things:

1 how well it was built
2 the quality of parts used (no ssac!!)
3 the tune

you can use hondata, crome pro,aem ems etc.. way more reliable then any fmu.my opinion

ask whoever is tuning your car what he feels compfortable with.

FMU and dependable dont go well together. Just get some DSM injectors with a resistor box, get your ecu chipped and have someone tune it with crome, you will be set.

Routine maintenance helps a lot as well. (More frequent oil changes, change plugs more often, keep eye on coolant and temperatures etc.)

Is it true that most daily driven turbo cars overheat? Also what are some of the ways to keep the engine temps down?(Bigger radiator, hi-flow fans...etc) Thanks for the input keep it coming.

Not true at all. A healthy engine with a propper tune, and a good radiator and fan setup, should never overheat. Be sure to propperly top off and bleed the cooling system after assembly, and you should be good to go. If a car is experiencing overheating issues, there is a problem somewhere in the setup, it wont be just because its turbo.

Ok...sounds good. I know some people who drive boosted civics around with no problem, but I know a lot of people who have lots of problems. But like you said it's all on the turbo and cooling setup, and the tune.Im just trying to see how to eliminate all problems that may come along after the install is complete.Keep the advice coming.

it's all in the tune. don't get too overly crazy with ignition timing and run richer on the a/f scale.
