Defi D gauge install confused please look...
1) Disconnect negative(-) battery cable.
2) Cut hose between the surge tank and the fuel regulator.
3) Connect the cut edges (a) and (b) by using the three-way connector.
4) Connect the supplied hose to the three-way connector (c).
5) Connect the other side of the supplied hose to the gauge (d).
6) Connect the white wire and the black wire.
7) Reconnect negative(-) battery cable.
Confused about step 2 where exactly is the surge tank in a stock d16y8?

There's a vacuum hose that connects from fuel regulator to the intake manifold, you split that hose, and T it off is what I meant.

it wouldn't matter, just as long you don't have 124124 t's on that one line, it'll be fine if it's just one source using that line.

yeah any vacuum source would work, fpr is common but a lot people use a vacuum manifold for multiple lines. i have my boost controller and boost gauge teed off the same line coming from my vacuum mani. i wouldnt suggest having too mani tees though.
all step 2 and 3 are saying is cut the fpr vacuum source and then reconnect the gauge and fpr lines all to the 3way tee. make sure you get the vacuum line and not the return line though
