Default DD setup with a/c, best way to combat engine/engine bay heat?

I'am not new to the world of turbos and have had a couple cars that I modded that have been turbocharged.

with that being said, it seems to me that almost all of the turbocharged cars I have encountered have either had problems with overheating or melting things in the engine bay. I just bought a spoolinperformance mini log kit and have everthing else I need from my turbo crx.

I was just wondering all the steps you would reccommend to deal with this issue. I have searched and hear that wrapping work ok; but allows moisture to get in and cause premature wear and ceramic coating seems to be a good alternative; but does it work? should I heat insulate the a/c lines?

btw, the car is a 94' civic w/ d16z6.

im in the process of building my car and i plan to wrap the ac lines with that sheilding stuff, coat the turbo manifold , coat and heat wrap the downpipe and dumptube, and run a turbo blanket on the turbo exhaust housing. if this doesnt cool it down enough im not sure what will. hopefully it works alright

I'm running an AC compatiable turbo setup that I made in my ej8 right now. No wrapping or any of those stuff. My AC still nice and cold. I would at the very least wrap it but this kit is coming off and soon to be for sale. My next setup will get some thermo wrap for sure. That JDM angle hood lift at the end also help a ton too.

A series of ceramic multi-coatings are availlable by distributor only which are being utilized by Nascar teams to control heat transfer primarily through the floor and firewall as well as some other "trade secret areas". These are multi-ceramic coatings as opposed to a single ceramic type which are less effective and considered first generation technology. They are thin film, light weight and durable. I can provide more detailed information if you desire.

anyways, what should I ask the guy to make sure he is good? should I do the manfold, downpipe and wastegate dumptube?

As you stated, wrapping will help with heat, but traps moisture. Since you are assembling your own log, you night be able to get away with using the factory heat shield from the 88-91 Civic HF models. Since you are doing some fab work on the manifold, it would be easy to add some mount points for the factory heat shield. For the turbo, DEI make some blankets. The blankets are better than wraps, because they fit looser, allowing the moisture to escape.

If you need a shield, we have a stack of them somewhere around here... eMail at Sales@TunerToys.com.
