Default DANG..JUST BROKE 2 HEAD BOLTS

well i was just getting my b18b engine ready to be droped in my hatch to be boosted...i already had a built ls head from my last setup...so i was going to to swap the heads so that my built head would be on the b18b block...while i was taking out the head bolts 2 of them had broken off inside the block and i was like fu*kkk...but all the rest of them came out with a 5ft pole tomy 1/2 SOCKET wrench and tugging since my engine is not in the car yet...just sitting in the floor

how would i be able to get the 2 broken off bolts out of the block?? i was thinking about taking it to my mechanic guy but i want to see if i can get it out myself

So the head came off and the 2 studs are broken in half? If so then your local machinist is your best bet, don't mess around let a pro with the correct tools get it out. You can go to sears and pick up a stud remover kit, you drill a hole and hammer a square stud into the hole and twist out the stud. I had to do this yesterday for one of my exhaust studs that snapped off during shipping. Although the only problem I see is that, your head stud has 63ftlbs instead of ~15lbs for my exhaust stud. I would take it to someone, it's going to be a pain in the ***. Paying someone to do it is definitely worth it!

By the way if you post a pic, it would help a lot!

yea im just going to take it to my mechanist to take it out for me...i got the engine for $100 cuz the guy that had it blew the head gasket so that also made it hard for me to take the bolts out

yea i used the 5ft pole cuz that was to only pole that i got right now since i dont have the right saw to cut it a bit shorter so i just used it and my breaker bar is only about 1ft and half long..so the 5ft pole was put in good use...i had also broken one wrachet last week on trying to get one of the bolts out but the adjuster part of my wrachet just broke but the was a 3/4 wrachet

ill take some pics tomorrow...but the bolts broke of at were the threads are on the bolts...so its pretty deep down in there

oh sorry i ment to say MY SOCKET wrench to remove the headstuds...i was using my breaker bar but its only a foot and half long and i wasnt getting enough leverage...so i found the 5ft pole and since i didnt have a saw to cut it, so i just used it to get the leverage i needed because the headstuds were really stuck in there...but its not really my fault that the headstuds were in so tight because i got the engine from a mechanic guy for $100 because the guy that had the engine before blew the headgasket

but since i got the head off...i was able to check the cylinder walls and didnt not find any scratches or cuts in the walls but it just have the usual build up of carbon deposits on the tops of the pistons

ILL HAVE PICS UP TOMORROW AFTER I GET BACK FROM JURY DUTY...

the only thing i can think of about why the headstuds were in so tight could probably from the guy that had it before probably torqued it to much...thus makin it very tight and hard to remove

machine shop for sure!!!!! if it took more then a breaker bar to take the bolts off then the head was never installed correctly in the first place

yea thats what i was thinking..that the guy that had it before didnt know how to install the head...when i get my block back im going to mate it to my built ls head with my ARP HEAD BOLTS...its better to do the job good the first time instead of having to redo it later and run into more problems...i just need to get some more ARP lub since i lost the one i had over the years
