Default dammit I screwed myself!!

I bought an STR S1 muffler, it can fit a 3 inch pipe but for some reason the core is only 2 inches and My goals are over 400hp. I wanted a muffler that was deep toned and 3 inches, i had no clue that a 3 inch muffler could have a 2 inch core. now I will have to run a cut out which defeats the purpose of buying this.

Because my budget for the project is very strict ( buying a house) and I cant afford to buy a $600 termal. just how much power would I be loosing with 2.5 inch Dp going into 3 inch piping into a 2 inch muffler? 20 psi on a sc61 ( b16)

Quite a bit I would imagine. I couldn't beleive the difference going from a 2'" to a 2.5" made on my d-series. And i'm only pushing 10psi.

You spend all that money on an SC61 and buy a 2 inch fart can?

I was thinking the same thing... If you have the loot for the SC61, just save up and do EVERYTHING right the first time. That's what I'm doing. I'd rather wait an extra 2-3 months to finish, and have everything I want, rather than finishing it up quickly and saying "Damn I wish I woulda bought that...."

No thats not how it was, I bought it locally along with tons of oher parts all at once, the guy was showing me how it can fit a 3 inch pipe and I though thats was all i needed, this was a few months back and just recently I looked at it and saw that it looked pretty small inside. then I checked out STR's site and saw that it was 2 inches. for all I new then all 3 inch mufflers were the same. I didnt know they also come in 2 inch and 3 inch cores on me http://www.strpower.com/s1mufflerintro.htm I wonder if I can sell it?

why not just get a magnaflow 3" muffler and do the custom piping thing? shouldn't run you over $300 at the most.

I'm not into that fancy, shiny stuff. Just tossed a flowmaster on mine. Think it sounds good.
