Default Daily Driven Nitrous cars: come on in

Wondering how many people on here have been spraying their daily driven cars longer than they can remember? what size shot and what setup?

I'm looking at doing direct port 75 shot on a ls vtec in my eg hatch.

but it is my only car and would like to see how others who have done this are doing and what setup they are running.

I've ran nitrous on other cars of mine, just never a Honda since this is my first. So I know the basics, my car already has a 255 fuel pump and I'll run colder plugs, window switch, tune, etc. This will be on CA 91 octane pump gas ***** water though.

thanks!

hahah, that's what I said on my ls1 camaro, I sprayed probably 100 bottles through that biatch and drove it to work everyday. that was just a simple wet kit though and given the distribution problems with honda manifolds its direct port of nothing for me.

lyncoors: what setup are you running? times/numbers? how long?

if anyone has been running a normal wet kit (not direct port) for a long time with countless bottles I would prefer that but I just haven't seen anyone do that reliably yet.

I had a stock 94 LS teg on a 75 shot wet kit. Went through about a bottle a weekend and never had a problem with it after we got it tunned. When I say stock, I mean stock everything! Stock fuel pump, 120,xxx miles on a virgin B18b

LOL, Ls AzZkIkr (tony)... This makes me wanna sell the new 2.0 turbo setup and put my NA CRVtec back in on spray! wow, amazing. I wonder how far id have to drive to find a decent nitrous tuner though!

I Went through 80+ bottles on a B20b, 100shot back in 2003-2004. was a Dry N.O.S. kit with Walbro255, Apexi AFC, RC440's. Went 13.0's @ 110. Drove daily, Beaten nightly.

jesus man.... there are some crazy bad *** cars in here. a low 9 second nitrous civic?! wtf?!? I'm relatively new to honda's but I didn't know there was even anyone FWD going that fast on the bottle??

I was talking more about guys who have run single foggers for a long time. I have read over and over that direct port is the only real safe way to do nitrous on these honda's since their distribution between the ports on these intake manifolds is so bad that you get some cylinders running super rich and others lean when on the bottle.

am I just totally off base? why do I keep hearing about people, some tuned by reputable shops, blowing up motors on small shots (50-75hp) with foggers then?

thanks everyone, still learning alot with Honda's so appreciate the help

CUBISH on this forum has run really good numbers on gas. I think he was making 5xx's with a high compression motor. Now that same motor is boosted and making 700+ and running 9's in his DD!

I use to run a vortec sc kit at 12 psi. and a 150 single foger in the air to water cooler. I would run 2 10 lbs. bottles every fri. night for about 2 years and it worked great.

most of those motors that have blown, probably had to hot of plugs, not enough fuel,or to much timing or all three, and not reading there plugs!! either that or the stock motor had probably 2xx,xxx miles on it.
if your motor is in good shape to begin with and you take all the proper precautions, you can run a 75 shot very safely and still dd it.
hope that helps

ok, so certainly going to spray it even though its my dd, you guys sold me.

my question now:

direct port vs. single nozzle fogger?

I only plan to spray 50-75hp but want it to be SAFE and as reliable as possible. Who thinks (from experience) that direct port is overkill for this power level?

seems far fetched to me too but I generally don't understand why someone on an anonymous board would lie to people they don't know and likely will never meet so ??

I've never gotten into Nitrous much and don't have any friends with it either...i've always wondered if the cost vs benefit of a nitrous setup was worthwhile. I see that you guys are making quite a bit more power than i had ever expected, but at what cost? I dont know what the start-up cost is and the cost of refilling a bottle...if someone could quickly touch on this question, i'd greatly appreciate it.

Nitrous is great nothing will ever touch it bang for buck. My buddy decided to Kenne Bell his mustang so just for **** and giggles to **** him off. Was given a brand new kit from a buddy for 200$ (crackhead deal, bottle/warmer/pressure gauge/blowdown tube, etc) took it to miller to tune and in one day. The car made 305/272wtq on a 100 shot on a stock K20, w/ rbc I/h/e. Car had horrible alignment and only ran a best of 12,56@119 on 225s bfg but it would trap 117-120mph all day and walk the mustang on rolls by serious car length . Not bad for a 700$ setup It went through 35-40 bottles I had one behind passenger seat and one behind driver seat (cheap auto bottle opener ). Same car is now being turbo'd

Bottles depending who you know and what not as it varies alot because some shops stock alot of nitrous or order alot. But it varys from 4-8$ a pound (used to pay 7$ canadian over here then had a buddy who bought ~500lbs and i would get it at 5$/lb. My cars bottle would usually last 12-14 full 1/4 mile passes spraying 2nd till 4th.

nothing beats the bottle for hp/$

I put a few cheap bolt ons on my ls1 camaro and a 150 shot nitrous express kit I built for about $600 and that car would walk old vipers no problem. I probably had less than $1k in mods on that car. nitrous is awesome, as long as you do your research and don't get greedy. Every car and kit has its quirks.

I had a single cam with nothing but ARP headstuds and a metal HG.

Ran an NX 50 shot through it all the time, never gave me a hiccup. Daily driver.
