D16Y8 vitara clearance preference?
Question for vitara builds, I have a rough d16y7 with a y8 head, I know nothing about its history. It was throwing a knock sensor and did not sound healthy. The sleeve walls don’t look that bad, they all have some slap damage but cylinder 3 has a lot…. That bearing is probably toast. I’m going to run standard size 75mm vitaras and want to boost to 300whp max, not a super expensive build, I’m gonna beat on it. Just curious about what piston to wall clearances yall run and how it feels. I know these vitaras like to expand a little bit and I might need to get new sleeves fitted. Hoping the measurements for the sleeve and crank are alright, but things rarely come that easy for me.. Thanks
Since there’s slight damage to the cylinder walls, why not bore it to 75.5mm and use appropriate YCP pistons and rings?
However, before doing all that, do a compression test. No sense in spending money in a motor that is beyond repair.

I bet the out of round is bad too. You really need to go 75.5 and set proper piston to wall. Remember they are cast pistons so they don't expand like a forged. I did a Vitara build a while back I think it was at .0025 ptw and it ran fine no issues for at least 30k miles before I lost track of the owner I sold it to
