Default d16y8 dizzy timing and boost

where do you guys with boosted y8's set your dizzy timing? I know stock it is set at 12, but I always hear of people with na y8's at least running it at 16 degrees. I am using beerbong's uberdata tune for his z6 on my y8 with the dizzy timing set at 12 degrees and I also have the zex 59300 cam in there. Where do you think I should set it? 12 or 16?

What was Beerbong's base timing set at?

Why are you using his tune, are you sure your setups are similar enough?

the base ignition timing is set at 16 on his maps. Since its set at 16 will it even make a difference if I move the dizzy? Will it still stay at 16? I'm just using his maps because its something better than using a basemap. Honestly it runs incredibly smooth on my setup and i haven't noticed any detonation at all. Not even when I had my shitty *** sidemount intercooler setup with it mounted in the engine bay. I have a front mount intercooler now and all new charge pipes and silicon couplers I just got welded up .

You set your base timing, then your ecu adjusts beyond that. So yes, you need to set your timing at 16 BTDC. Also, it really isn't that safe to be running someone else's map, you should tune your car on a dyno.

Yes it will make a difference if you move the dizzy. If his maps were setup for 16* static timing (at the dizzy) and you move the dizzy to 12*, the whole map is just 4* retarded.

well do you guys think I should run my timing maps 4 degrees retarded then? I mean what do other people with y8's do?

My tuner set mine up. If I remember correctly he said he actually made more power by taking some timing out through the Hondata and that was N/A. Base timing was at 16 BTDC.
