D16 turboed Carnage
Buddie just had his motor go heres a pic of the carnage. Thought id see what everyone's diagnosis is on the cause of the failure i have my opinion and he has his.
Edit: ill forgot some details
its a d16 Vitara/Eagle motor and yea they are forged h beam rods. snapped the ARP rod bolts and spun the rod bearing.
My diagnosis is oil pump failure under high boost heated up the rod to bend it and spun the bearing.
He thinks it was a faulty wastegate and a failing oil pump spun the bearing
( oil pump was oem d16y8 with ~200k on it.)

Re: D16 turboed Carnage
most likely its was starved for oil and spun the rod bearing causing the big end cap to break or sheer the bolts from overheating and the bent rod is from impact

Re: D16 turboed Carnage
Its just sad as the motor was only 6 months old. maybe 8k-10k on it.
I have the same motor setup but i opted for a new oil pump over reusing the stock one and im sure glad i did.

yea he cut a few bucks there but lost alot more in the long run, the rod also took out the oil pan . His crank, Rod, piston, cylinder, and oil pan are all trashed
