D16 turbo build, but will the transmission hold up
I recently came across a 95 eg si that is in really good shape. For years I have wanted to fully restore an EG civic, but haven't had the time, space, or means to do so. Finally, at age 34 I am able to do so. My first car was a EF sedan, then an EG with a B18 in it. I then purchased a FA5 civic si in my mid 20's. Life happened, which brings me to where I am today. I have always been a Honda fan, and still follow the scene today.
My plan is to fully restore this 95 si back to PERFECT condition. That is simple enough. My concern is what to do for a power plant. Yes, throw a B/K series in it, turbo it, blah blah. But everyone does that.
My final goal for this car is to enjoy it, and take it out on nice days. Go for cruises and day trips. This will not be a daily driver.
I am thinking to build the stock d16 and put some boost through it. Goal of 350-400 whp. I know that's not crazy to most, but fun none the least. My concern is if the d16 transmission will be able to hold that power reliably? I don't plan on tracking it, or putting slicks on it. Just back roads, and freeway pulls. I would obviously go with an lsd, and better axles. But with that said, and those power levels, and driving habits, do I run the risk of exploding the tranny?
If anyone can lead me to info, or literature that would be great.
Thanks.

Unless you're launching it really hard on slicks without pre-loading, you should be fine. And as B_and_B said above, replacement transmissions are cheap and plentiful if something does go bad
