D15B VTEC turbo setup
Hey scott. I dont know who you have been talking to and who has been filling your head with this crazy 300+ whp idea on stock block, for a stock block just run 7-9psi...Tuner toy rods and vitaras would be a good build for around 300whp. I dont think there is a need to go much over that. Its pointless, and becomes not so much fun when all your doing is destroying tires. Or having to run 120/piece drag radials.

.....Also, since this is your daily driver its just more reason to build it properly. D-series are cheap why not buy another D-series block and build that block then just swap that block in your car. You may have to deck the head but that isnt much downtime.

And remember that your car will be down much longer if you blow it up and have to wait for parts AND rebuild it than if you just do it right the first time. Either way good luck and enjoy the build

I am doing my first turbo setup with the same motor. I think you should tone it down a bit though because with 250-300 you are most likely just going to end up with a blown motor and that isn't any fun for a daily driver.
I am using a garrett t3/t4e 50trim .48a/r which is what someone mentioned before. And I'm only shooting for 200hp on 8 psi. It'll probably go a little bit over that number but oh well. 200-220 will be just as fun as 250-300 on a street car and a little more reliable. When I'm thinking about a street car quick+reliable=fun.

yeah, i am gunna build a block so that i can turn up the boost if i do so feel. plus since like you guys said this is my daily driver, i dont want to blow up my motor and be stranded. i am gunna buy another block and build it, i can still drive my car around while the motor is being built.
If you can't afford to do it right now, what makes you think you will be able to afford it a 2nd time?
First thing I would do is get a beater, then you won't feel pressuried to have yours running.
I will never mod another car w/o having a secondary fallback car..

i am gunna have a lot of money saved up this year to finish the car. i am gunna buy a z6 longblock and tear it down, and build it the right way. i am gunna sleeve it, put forged pistons in it, new rods, all new bearings, get some headwork done, and then boost the hell out of it. that way i can build one motor and drive on the other.

What are you going to tune it with?</TD></TR></TABLE>
To the OP, I don't know if you have boosted yet or not, but don't listen to this guy. A Garrett T3/T04e is a PERFECT turbo for your setup. The hybrid turbo is one of the best and is not just a simple "T3". It combines the T3 hott side for quicker spooling along with a T4 compressor housing to ensure good hp numbers. My friend is using it on his stock boosted Ls with a spoolinperformance log manifold and other goodies, and he is making 267 whp and 244 wtq on his setup. You never mentioned the trim of your turbo though. His is a .57 just incase you were wondering. Your turbo setup looks nice though. I don't think it will be enough for 290 whp on a stock block and head, but it should definently get you to 200 with a decent tune and on 10-11 psi. I'm hoping to do the same thing (JDM D15b-T) in the spring, so wish me luck!
