Default D-series and Vitaras

i have got a D15B VTEC i would like to know if Vitara pistons will fit in this block ?
will i have to over bore?

What vitara engine will the pistons have to come from?

i am thinking about turbocharging my civic and i have a few options , either turbo D15 with vitara pistons and other goodies. B20VTEC turbocharged with few goodies. or F22 VTEC and turbo that ( how good is the F22 anyway. i never knew about it until i saw it with my own eyes, it is a 2.2 SOHC VTEC. How much power and torque does this produce?)

what do you guys suggest i do?

the pistons will fit since the d15 is also a 75mm bore.. but i dont know what the cr will be on that motor..

If you want pistons let me know..I sell them.
For ease of build up i would get a d16 block..I think d15s have a different stroke so getting good rods that will handle bigger power goals will be either hard..Or expensive.

no its the fact that the d15 has a shorter deck height than a d16.

YES, use the compression calculators.

Enough to hit your head... Get a D16 block for $50 if you really want to build a D, the D15's are pretty useless. Just turbo the stock motor if you dont want to wait.

just to clear it up, the vitara pistons will not stick out of the block in a jdm d15b. the d15 rods are the same as the d16 rods, it just has different pistons. there is a guy on turbod16.com that has done a jdm d15b build (a few more are in the process) with vitara's and he calculated the compression ratio to come out to be around 9.4-1 which is not bad. the vitara's sit below the deck in the d16 and yield like low 7.8or 8.0-1 compression, but not in the d15b. the vitara pistons are pretty much the lowest cost and the only way to build a d15b vtec that i have found. over this winter, i plan on building my d15b vtec with tunertoys rods and vitara pistons.

ASSuming you go D16 like everyone else tells you... or try to fit some wierdass combo of milled + bushed B16 rod (keeping stock D15 at that point is stupid, and the D16/D15B is too long) and Vitara into your D15B (if that would even work, I've not done the math just dreaming outloud here)... then:

I recommend you overbore, I get a little worried about engines that skirt slap after reman... STD Vitara's are a few hundredths smaller than STD D16 pistons.

D-series with their small bores can be volatile unless you yank enough ignition timing. Cheap as hell, and robust in a certain power range if you get them dialled in right.

B20B/Z blocks with their siamesed bores suck *** for reliable power. Avoid.

JDM F22B is a very stout engine, and big bore to boost with says lots about their power production capabilities. They are reputedly, according to the Accordheads I talk to, good to 300-350 whp. At that point, I'm pretty sure it's crank breakage time like everything else F/H that's not balanced like the H22 or F20B. Shame F/H transmissions are steaming piles of feces; H2B conversions are a bit more expensive than they are worth.

Hey, I could talk all day. What's the fastest thing you've ever owned, and what power # are you shooting for? Between those two things, it's pretty simple nailling bang for buck.

They just fit. I am running this combo right now with LS rods and a 3 layer OEM headgasket.

Compression is better than the D16. It's around 9.1:1 ish. I think vitaras in a d16 is waste. They should only go in D15B. Period.

HA!!!!! Tell that to JFK's ride who has a d16 and runs 11's on street tires and traps 126mph with his vitara setup...there are some other d16 vitara setups showing up with 11sec runs as well...

Sorry i cant provide more info about the vitaras and d15.. i built a d16 so i dont have the experience with the d15.
