Default D-series HP limits

how much hp can a stock d16y8 handle..search function isnt working right now sorry..yeah i know the tune matters but how much on a conservative tune....ill prolly do bout 250 but might consider shooting for 300

I've seen a lot of dyno's of d16's making low 200's. I don't think i'd push it past that being stock. Built thats another story.

Thats wheel hp not flywheel. 300whp is pushing it imo, even 250whp would be pushing it.

aight thanks...i think i will boost for 200-250 and start building another short block...what manifolds do you guys use.....

Weak link is definitely the rods, around 200-220 whp its relatively safe I personally wouldn't beat on it all day everyday at that level. At the moment on my D16a6 I am making 240whp on 13psi I run 9 psi all day 13psi for fun.

I have seen a stock d16 make 300 whp but they would never say for how long, lol. Typically most people dont push them past about 200-220 whp. If you have ever seen a stock rod out of one you would see why. With a good tune you should be able to run up to about 8 psi safely. As for maniflods I am running the DRAG one and it has been really good, and the A/C clearance is a plus.
