Cutting OEM Integra bumper for FMIC?
Hey I am having troubles fitting my OEM 95 teg bumper on with my intercooler. Im thinking of just cutting out the grill with a dremel or something of the like.
Who has done this and did it just take a steady hand not to cut into the actual bumper? or is there any good methods?
thanks

die grinder is probably $50-$60 at home depot or lowes. you'll have to buy the cutoff wheel separately.
dremel is probably similar in price but takes forever to cut through the bumper hehe.

I had the same problem with my jrc 8" front mount and my 94 teg bumper.
when i get home, i can take some pics of what i had to cut out and shave down.
i basically used a dremel, but for the big parts, used a die grinder with a cut off wheel like the one Dustin showed.

i'll show my hack job on my civic....
Before:
During:
And final product:
It took ******* 3hrs to cut it all with a Air powered dremel.... I suggest either a nice electric one so you dont run out of power, or a REAL huge Cut-off wheel.
it worked tho

Wow you guys really put an effort in to fit the your fmic's! I'm planning on just cutting out the grill on my bumper cover and hoping my charge pipe wont hit the lip and push it out too much . Thanks for the pics and info
Thurman Merman do you have those pics of your bumper cover cut out? I need ideas as I am doin this when I wake up tomorrow.

for cutting the plastic i like to use a fine tooth hack saw blade. A cutter(dremel, die grinder) will cut the plastic fast, and its easier to screw up. i just sharpie a line on the bumper and use the hack saw blade.

Wow, that looks like alot of work, but it looks really good.... I was too lazy to do that and just took the bumper reinforcement out .

Youll be fine with a dremel for your grill. Took me about 20 mins to get it looking perfect. Youll need a few of those blades tho, i went through like 5 or 6 on my front bumper.

no no... trust me, i thought it was going to also and i wsa just about to sell it and get a smaller sized one.
but it sits about even with the top of the lip. i checked it out from under the car once i had to bumper on, and the intercooler doesnt sit any lower than the rad. support, so its all good.

the shop that did my fmic install hacked the **** out of my front bumper cover, and the fm still hangs below the bottom of the bumper. it all doesnt look bad and im planning on covering the bottom with a lip of some kind. im sure theres no right or wrong way to do this (within reason), so do whatever makes you comfortable/happy, without destroying your bumper or fmic...

Well I got 'er done and it turned out pretty good. With the help of a die grinder, exacto knife and a file. Took a couple pics but the sun was setting, maybe i'll snap another today.
