Lay down some masking tape around your cut lines if you're cutting a painted surface.

boo, I was just about to say that. Take some measurements to make sure all your cutting will be symetrical, then masking tape it, and cut.

I used my dremel and turned it to almost the highest speed and slowly and I mean slowly trimmed what I needed. Can't force it or the wheels will break to pieces. Took a while but I didn't chip any paint.
