I wish that it would come in a 3'' version, not about to go from my 3'' downpipe to a 2.25''. That would be really cool though if someone would make that....

I know for you guys that are running big 3"'er under your shiz this isn't much use, but for guys/gals that have a puny exhaust anyways.......My setup sux az right now. I've got a 2.25 catback with a restrictive as hell DX cat, i've got a high flow cat @ home, and I figure i'll put the cut out before my HiFlow cat, and leave my exhaust as is.........My shiz is almost as quite as stock right now.......good for sleeping effect.............

It doesn't seal tightly and will make it sound like you have an exhaust leak.

You should've seen it when some dude was reselling these on Ebay for over $50. He placed over 20 ads at once, all under different headings, claiming that they were made for Hondas, Fords, even Dodge Vipers.

About a year ago, I helped put one on a VW jetta. It was hard to instal because of that cable you have to hook up and run into the cab. Once we finally got it all instaled, we couldn't get it to close/seal all of the way, so he had a huge exhaust leak. He ended up just taking it out because it was more hasle than it was worth.

Yeah back to the leaking thing, the first one posted looks like it wouldn't be able to control the flow all that nicely, but the second picture looks like a better version.

Oh well $31 down the drain I guess. I can''t really justify more than to $600 for a 3" thermal with 3" cat......I could get a custom 3" setup but that would cost $$$ to. I talked to a couple of local exhaust shops and they said that it would be very difficult to get 3" to bend at the proper angles under a CRX without pinching. Then the clearance may be a problem......so here are my choices....

1) Cut out, may leak, but better flow than a FULL 3" exhaust. Loud, it's a thrill factor --$31
2) Thermal ~ $600 do they even make one for a CRX? No a 88-91 3 dr Civic won't fit, it would need to be cut by 7" AND i've got a swap
3) Full custom, 200~400 easily, time and money.

The 3" cutout does look better , but you'd have to get under the car to remove the wing nuts......nice for a drag strip I guess.....noise violation on the street, what are you gonna do? Tell the cop, "Hang on let me crawl under my car for a sec."...... LOL

Well try the cutout, it's not like it's a permanent thing, find out if you like it then make your own decision.

So if you mounted that directley behind the dp, when you had the lid thingy taken off the dump tube, would it flow the same as haveing an open dp?

Yeah i'm going to I already ordered the damn thing So i'm gonna use it......

If you put the cut-out right after your DP you'll flow more than your exhaust even if you have a 3", due to the bends and muffler in your exhaust.

Yeah I've figured if I put it between my free flow Cat and the DP that'll be nice flow. Just imagine revving on some POS look crx with a quite exhaust. Then hearing the roar of an open DP and a BOV.........kinda funny if ya thinik about it.......or scary

http://www.exhaustcutouts.com

Stainless steel available, and in sizes ranging from 2.25" --> 3".

Well, for some reason the site doesn't work, but I recall the larger diameter versions being around $60-65.

I wonder what happened to them..

Default Cheap cutouts = bad, Quality cutouts = good

Throw that crap away. You'll just be wasting money trying to get it to work. I have researched exhaust cutouts far and wide and this is what I've found...
http://www.empiremotorsports.net/mccord.htm

Tired of crawling underneath your car to uncap your cutout? Well with the McCord Power Cutout all you have to do is turn a switch. With 12 positions you can adjust the butterfly plate to your desired opening. Whether it is wide open, 50% or closed its done with a dial. Mates up to a standard FlowTech Cutout. The main plate and butterfly are made from aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum. This will prevent any corrosion or rusting problems with the unit. The plate is sealed with Viton a high temperature rubber that is used in very volatile and higher temperature applications. The seal is pliable enough to conform to the bore and stop any leakage.

All for 159$ which includes one cutout, one switch, and one variable plate. Tell me what you guys think? We should start a group buy on this thing for sure?

that is a pretty slick idea, only thing that worries me is how long that motor will last underneath the car.

Start a group buy please....I'd rather spend $150 for that cutout then spend $500 for an exhaust

I just inquired about a possible group buy. waiting for reply.

The motor would probably last long since it's probably in it's own enclosed unit? also, they told me a newly redisgned 3 inch will be coming out very soon. 2.5 should also be available soon.
