If you re-read Maximum Boost, I believe you will find that expansion slots or larger sized bolt holes are for use with stainless, which has a larger coefficient of expansion. You'll notice all the stainless manifolds use mild steel flanges to bypass this, and are usually of the tubular variety so that the stresses are not the same as, and are much less than, log style manifolds.

I have a schedule 40 mild steel log manifold with 3/8" flange I made myself. I've run it for about a year now. It was thrown together last minute, back the beginning of June 2002. The 3/8" flange was made from some cheap/available bar stock laying around - most will tell you anything less than 1/2" is prone to warpage. I have no problems with binding, warpage, or exhaust leaks (except on long trips of 3+ hours one way, I just retorque the bolts when the engine is cooled and it's fine again). Based on my experience, tinker's product will be bulletproof.

Hey, congrats to everyone for a successful manifold thread. It's a lot nicer now that everyone can chill and businessmen like tinker, ffgeoff, etc. can ply their trade without BS.

Thanx for the praise J.Davis, and from what Ive seen, my manifolds ARE bulletproof. The one in the Del Sol above was in a 60mph accident, and it survived. The turbo went through the radiator, so it was a decent hit.
And yes, Its good to see that we can all get along....

I saw that pic of your gf's car. That car looks like it hit pretty damn solid. I was suprised the damage wasn't worse. I would like to try to get you to do a D series manifold, for my ZC that is equal length and braced. I have a C&R radiator off to the right side of of my compressor like in a Delsol or later model civic. How much would that run? I also, have a tial 35mm wastegate, where would the position be, out the front of the manifold or logged off like a revhard, or south florida performance manifold?

Well, the SST, the one pictured in my gfs car, is $400 plus shipping. the wastegate can be angled off to the side if you want it to for no charge.
Ya, the car was pretty smacked up. The roof popped right out, so thats what totaled it. I think the strut tower bar helped alot, even though on the next one, there will be an EXTREMELY beefy one installed

If you could do a B-series with a/c you would have a deal.

ask "civicsoul". I made him a D series AC compatible mani, and the WG was off to the side. I was in such a rush to get it shipped out, that I didnt take any pics. Also, that was the day that my GF smashed her car...
he had to do ALOT of modifying to get it in, but he has AC still

Hey Tinker,

about how far does the T3 flange/collector sit from the front of the block? I am getting ready to purchase one of your equal length manis for my ZC setup, but I am going to be utilizing a 40mm Tial WG. I would really like to mount it "Full Race" style with it coming straight out to the front of the car, but I'm still not sure if I have enough room.

If I could get some rough measurements that would help me out a lot!

Thanks man,
Bryson

Id say 5-6 inches max. I can taylor everything to have it sit closer if its a problem...

I can make one for AC, but youd have to be a real diehard to keep it. Basically, I make it so the WG and turbo clear the compressor. From there on out, you have to probably "adjust" the AC condenser, and all of the lines. Also, the AC condsenser fan will most likely have to go...
in other words,
"It Dont bolt up!"

I have been slacking in getting my pics and praise up for Tinker. I am going to take pics right now! All I have to say is that Lovefab forever! It will work with a/c with a little creativness and love. I will take pics of that also to show what must be moved to make it work. I got the mild steel equal length and painted it with a SS high temp paint. The outside coating is flaking right now, but that has nothing to do with the manifold just the shity weather while painting it. The thing is mean! I will shut up and go take pics. Look for the new post!

Tinker - Are you also able to make the log manifold and downpipe for a mitsu td04? If so, what is the price difference, if any? Thanks in advance.

yep. I checked out your site, but everything appeared to have a t3 flange. I wanted to find out if you can make the log mani for a mitsu td04 and a downpipe as well for the d-series. Also, what is the price difference if any.

Thanks in advance
