Custom D16z6 Turbo Setup Help!!!!!
ok...i have a d16z6 and a buddy of mine with a 3000 gt is offering me his two 9b turbos for free becuz he has upgraded 15G HKS turbos. my question is what all will i need to run this turbo safely...he says theyre good up to 9psi a piece....of course im only runnning one turbo and the other is for backup. i only plan to run maybe 6.5 psi daily, 8psi at the track. i dont wanna rebuild the bottom end or nothing. i know i need the manifold and downpipe, but what else. i just need the bare necessities to get it running. i also need to know where to purchase these needed items since im new to turboing civics. thanx

Manifold, turbo, DP, oil feed line, oil return line with fitting for oil pan, new intake piping, some kind of fuel supply setup, check valves or Missing Link for MAP bypass. Exactly what kind of turbo's does Mitsu use on the VR-4's?

well they use two TD04 "9b" turbos....but obviously i can only use one. they have a peak cfm rating of 265 per turbo. the guy i know said that they would max out at about 9psi per turbo. i only plan to boost 6.5psi daily and 8psi possibly at the track anyhow so that wouldnt really be a big deal topping out at 9psi. i wanted something similar to the greddy kit but cheaper, although i know they use a bigger turbo. i need more info on fuel delivery and where to buy manifolds and downpipes.

The Greddy turbo is a TD04 as well, so the turbo you have may bolt up to a Greddy manifold. Can't verify this though, as Greddy may have their own flange bolt pattern.

I agree, those 9bs are nasty small. If you want some custom info, take a look at the web page in my sig. It is for 88-91 CRXs D16A6, but might work on your setup. I would definitely not use that turbo though, it will make your car slower over 4000 rpm. The damn t25 I am running is too small and runs out of breath above 5500rpm, but damn she is fun as hell from 2500 to 5000!!
Good luck,
