CRX Custom Intercooler Install - Done! (big pics)
Hi,
Got my custom intercooler for the rex - looking good!
My EGT has now stopped the worrying tendancy of creeping up on prolonged boost. I will measure the before and after charge temperature when i get my thermocouple delivered. Only running 5.5 psi at the moment, but i suppose that can go up a bit now.
There was a small, but noticable torque difference just by fitting the I/C and that's without any re-tuning to take advantage of the cooler charge. Can't notice any increase in lag, but i have a Profec-B to take care of that.
Cheers,

Re: CRX Custom Intercooler Install - Done! (xbird)
Glad you guys like it, it was from a company in the UK, Forge Motorsport
www.forgemotorsport.co.uk It cost £220 or $319 US delivered to my door in 1 week after placement of order. It is an extruded core as you can see from the internal pic and has a good bit of mass to it so it's heatsinking abilities should be good. Couldn't believe the quality of the work, way better than i expected, check the welds here http://www.marklamond.co.uk/temp/intercooler2.jpg The feed pipes are all machined on a lathe, i expected standard pipe with a bead rolled in. Nice surprise.
I have got the design on paper if anyone wants to make a replica, just got to scan it in. It requires some cutting of the front end to let the pipes through, but does not involve moving the radiator back, cutting the bumper etc which makes it look even neater. Just got to make a new bonnet stay and weld in boxes over the holes i cut to keep the front end strong, but that can wait for a while.

It doesn't look like even a single fin is bent on that IC.....wow! I've never seen that before.
I think it would look better if you cut the bumper grill for more IC exposure, just my opinion.

Forge Motorsport intercoolers are awesome! I am a dealer here in the US for their products. What kills you is the shipping to the US. It is over $100 USD for shipping and depending on the exchange rate, the price can fluctuate.

Re: CRX Custom Intercooler Install - Done! (Speed PHreak)
Here is the design:
You could fit a taller one, but i didn't see the point as only the bottom is exposed to air from the mouth at the front.
I have noticed that the cooling fan runs a bit longer now than it did before, which if fair enough as the I/C will be creating a bit of a restriction, although there is a 20mm gap between the I/C core and radiator core. No cooling problems when driving though.
