Default CRAZY oil consumption..

i just got back from a 12 hr trip w/ my newly built 2L turbo gsr.. What I noticed was that b4 the trip, my oil level was at the middle of the 2 dots on the dip stick .. But when i got to my destination, it wassn't even registering on the dipstick.. SO i filled the motor w/ some oil.. probably about a quart or so.. I thought this was just an isolated incident..

anyway on the way back, I checked it b4 we got on the road and kept a note of it.. Low and behold, when i got home, the oil level went down below the lower dot on the oil dipstick again..

THis kinda confuses me cuz I never seen any bluish smoke come out of the tail pipe. and on my cruise back, or any noticable smoke for that matter.. I rarely was in boost, the gauge got to about 0 psi, but that was about it.. I should also mention that I've got my PVC system drawing vacuum from my DP just after the O2 sensor.. its part of my catchcan setup.. I"m not 100% sure if this may be the culprit to my unusual amount of lost oil for such a new rebuild..

Right now, I'm just trying to figure out where the oil is going.. My pan seems to have evidence of some minor oil leakage, but i'm pretty sure that much oil could leak from such a place w/o showing a notable amt of grime buildup..

Help me out..

Oil return/feed...all that look good, no leakage? Grime takes time to build up...I'd inspect everywhere you see oil leaking.

Id take it back. When there is high oil consuption the cylinder walls might be damaged.

Been there dude. You have to start narrowing things down.

First, fix the leaks. This is most likely NOT the cause for the massive consumption but you should fix it anyway.

2nd, what is your catch can setup? PIcs? Which fittings did you use? Are you using the drainback?

3rd, when you take the car out for a while and come back, immediately pull the plugs to see what they look like. Also shine a light down the cylinders to see if they are filled with oil. Trust me on this one.

but there's not much oil in the catch can.. it may just be blowing straight through the can and right out the exhaust pipe.. My catch can is basically a container about 1.5" in diameter and about 4 " deep w/ an IN and OUT nipple on opposite ends on the upper part of the canister..

I should also note that when i start my car, it sometimes take a second or 2 longer to start.. Kinda like its flooded or something..

I may consider taking the catch can out all together rand see if that solves the problem..

I dont really have any problems w/ it since it doestn' affect the performance nor do I see any visual problems i.e. smoking.. Its just that, i want to know why and where its happening...

thanis for the replies so far
