Crashed my car last night :(
Hey everyone
Well last night I managed to slap into the back of a parked taxi in the middle of the road at about 90km/h with no brakes.
There was a small bridge on this road, and you can't see what's on the other side. It was late at night, and I was just flowing with the rest of the traffic (which was at about that speed). Little did I know was that on the other side of the bridge was a motorcycle accident, and everyone had to brake, all lanes being blocked. I came up the bridge, and got the surpise of my life as I came down and slammed into the back of an unfortunate taxi that was caught up in the traffic from the motorcycle accident.
My airbag came out, and i'm okay. A little bruised from my seatbelt and from the airbag, but no blood. My car on the other hand isn't too well. I smashed into the taxi dead-center, with everything at front pushed in. Radiator, intercooler, air condensor all destroyed, my turbo was okay, and everything behind that was too. Passenger side door can't open because of the panels above the left wheel being pushed and wedged against it. Rims are okay (amazingly) and the most amazing thing is that my front headlights were not smashed at all!
Gonna take a month for the body to get fixed and painted, then I gotta tow it to my garage to re-do the intercooler, piping, radiator, air con, etc..
If it hit the engine, then i'd get insurance to buy me a second-hand JDM B18C But I just didn't hit the taxi hard enough
Although i'm sad for the car, I did pick up my new seats for it today
JDM Integra Type-R Recaro's, black with red stitching & suede fabric. Two of them, straight out of a crashed ITR.
I'll post pictures up of the crash (and the seats) if anyone wants to know what it would look like

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (D-SPEED)
very good news which has just come in
someone who has owed me money for 2 years now, will be installing a 2nd gen B16A with cusco LSD once the car comes out from the body shop for FREE!! i'm very excited about the news, and will now be able to further develop my car Always wondered what a DOHC VTEC turbo feels like (since I don't know anyone with one over here).
i'll be driving it around NA for a little while, as i'm still paying off my new recaro's, then will collect some money for a new turbo manifold, and modify my current intercooler piping a little bit, etc.. should be good!

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (downpipe)
Just curious.. how much power can one expect from a well built B16A turbo? With stock internals, an IHI RHF5 ballbearing turbo (same one as JDM 280HP WRX) and standalone fuel management (which I have already) at say.. hmm.. 10psi of boost? I've never really taken much notice of a turbocharged B16As because i've always had my eyes on doing a B18C or CRVTEC turbo.. but hell, I get the engine for free, so I may as well work with what i'm getting..

well since youre running on a higher compression motor, i would say boost no more than 9 on stock internals.

The b18b's are more of an ideal turbo set up than the b16. All the dynos I see the b18b's spank the b16a's. But since your getting it free it should give you very nice results.

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (Ltech)
on the good side of things.. the following awaits the return of my civic
Managed to grab it from a wrecked black JDM ITR that was shipped over here and chopped in half. (no rear-half of the car, just front half including B18C-R 98 spec engine!!)
took a lot of talking and convincing to get the seats.. originally the importer of this particular ITR was only gonna sell it as a whole.. but I managed to talk him into giving me the seats for a price which actually was more than I should have paid.. but these seats are so rare, I really wouldn't care.. and condition of the seats is 95%.. only a small tiny cigarette burn on the passenger side seat, which I didn't notice at all until i rubbed my hands against the bottom of the seat, where you'd usually sit your *** down
this.. and a B16A awaiting the car once it comes out.. its gonna be a totally new feeling.. I can't wait!

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (SagaGSR)
tararan: the import scene here is great.. we have a lot of cars that you guys dream of having, and you have EK hatchbacks, which we (me especially) dream of having
SagaGSR: people view thailand and other surrounding countries as developing countries, which I guess is true in some way. But over here, you're either poor, begging on the streets, or you're rich. There isn't really a middle class. Maybe i'm exaggerating here, but its how I see it through my eyes. Its very easy to make money here, and you don't always have to be 100% legit to make it either.. that's why there are so many people here living their lives like a king. And if you're famous/important enough, then there's the corruption which will get you through and out of almost anything, including jail. But life here is great. You'd be amazed at the things you can do here, you're entitled to so much freedom, you can do things here that you would never dare doing elsewhere. No speed limits. No speed cameras. Bribes to cops. This place is a midnight racer's paradise

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (nathan's boosted civic)
cool.. well i grew up in the Philippines and moved in US... same thing with your country.. if you got money then you are good to go... i find that very scary to live in as a daily thing.. crimes just happens everywhere... i like a country that knows how to give justice.. i hate corruptions, one reason i would never live back in PI for good.. for vacation, its a sweet place to visit.. i think i would pay a visit to thailand one of these days...
i just saw that image again, ooohhh.. sorry about your car again.. i hope the intercooler is fine...

nah, intercooler is not fine.. is f*cked. But i'm hoping insurance will buy me a new one.. wanna get a Blitz (same as the topfuel civics use) or an A'PEXi one.. they both look nice If I can't get one of those, then i'll probably get an intercooler from a Mitsu Evolution 3 or 4, coz they're easier to find and not as expensive

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (Lost Type R)
16" Enkei Racing RP01s painted black.
I hate them. But its better than having the stockers on, and it does the job.
When I get rich, i'll buy some nice rims.. always wanted a set of 16" MF10s

Re: Crashed my car last night :( (nathan's boosted civic)
Some bad news and good news.
Talked to insurance. They will fix/repair/change all body-related parts of the car. However they will ONLY pay for 20% of the non-standard things on the car which are not standard (ie. my turbo and all its accessories that got destroyed in the crash). I am crying over that
Also from what you guys said, I decided to talk to my friend, and he'll be getting me a B18C now, with B18B gearing and LSD. Hope that will work out okay considering i'm gonna be turbocharging this thing without driving it NA Some say B18C and B16A gearing is not good.. gear ratio too close or something, not sure..
