Is this crankshaft useable
there appears to be a bad groove where that crankshaft seal would be. that may cause it to leak. I'm not sure so I thought I would ask you you guys with some engine building experience.
looks very dirty, hard to tell. clean it off with something, oil it up. Looks like the front main seal dug a groove into it. Was is in the boosted motor wihout upgraded pcv system? As long as there is no main/rod journal damage I would just get it cleaned and micropolished and use it. Make sure you offset the main seals so they don't sit in the grooves otherwise you might have some oil leak problems.
I had couple cranks do that, no problems with leaks. Just depends how bad the groove is, hard to tell.
