Default Crankcase pressure

I'm thinking my crankcase pressure is a little high, alot more air than usual is blowing out of the oil cap hole on my valve cover when the cap is off. What are some things that could cause this to happen? Boosted LS 10psi

Boosted Hondas frequently have a lot of blowby, but if it is really bad, then it's probably your rings. Do compression and leakdown tests to figure out what's going on with your engine.

my buddy did a compression test on it a couple days before i noticed the problem and he said all the readings were good, however, i don't remember the numbers he was getting. if my compression is good what else could be going on?

the same thing happened to me, and I had cracked my ringlands.

the good news is that after the rebuild i am back running strong again, better than ever.. its a good idea to also check to see if you are burning more oil than usual, or blowing smoke out your exhaust.. those are other ways to check and see if it is more than just a blow by problem that you are having.. good luck..

you can run up to 15psi on a stock pcv system.

i was under the impression you couldnt run any positive pressure on the oem sysytem? Or are you talking about running 15 psi with the the pcv valve unhooked and open the the atmosphere? with the intake mainifold capped off?

I ran my PCV line to the inlet side of the turbo and then used the filter on the valve cover vented to atmosphere-works great.

Not entirely true.

Sounds like your ringlands are gone.

if his ring lands were messed up then new rings would not fix it.

Do a leakdown test to determine if its your ringlands or not. It could be that your PCV system is simply clogged or inefficient.

most factors have been mentioned but a couple of quick checks were missed.. i believe in the k.i.s.s. method (keep it simple stupid)..
1. make sure you oil isn't overfull.
2. make sure your oil return line isn't blocked or clogged in anyway
3. do a leakdown-if a ringland is the problem this will show it.

1. If the oil is overfilled it will not cause blowby

2. if the return line is clogged and he blew his turbo it would smoke out the exhaust not from the crank case.

3. Do a leakdown test and listen for where the air is escaping. make sure the motor is hot before you do the test

leakdown test results were ok...again, could it be the fact that the stock pvc system doesn't exist anymore and the the hole has been press plugged?

my b16 is still N/A....it only has 57k miles on it....

When I disconnect the valve cover line going to the intake it blows air out of there....and if I open the oil cap it blows air out there too..?

Does this mean something is wrong? The engine still seems to pull fine, and doesn't burn oil....and I just replaced the PCV the other month

its always gonna blow a little air outta there....but if its alot, like it feels like a pretty strong amount of air pressure then crankcase pressure is too high.

its supposed to blow out gasses, as long as its not smoke, you're fine!
