crank case pressure/venting problem
o.k this not a turbo build but you guys are more familar with venting extra crank case pressure than alll motor people.
my bro has a stock b20 in his crx with only the valve cover nipple for the pvc. it smokes just a little bit and the valve had a little oil on it.
i decided to install a block fitting on the back where the factory black box is on most b-series. i ran a hose from that to a seperate pvc valve to a nipple on the back of the block i drilled and tapped,so it works just like the stock pvc valve, until i could figure out how im going to do a catchcan.
anyway uppn start up we could see just a bit of smoke at idle which never happened before, then when we ran it hard,it smoked like a tractor. so i figured it was sucking oil, since the block fitting is in the oil drain back. i unhooked the vacum hose, took out the pvc,and just had the hose hooked to nothing just venting into the air. still smokes the same. it has me puzzled. why would that make it smoke more?it cant be sucking oil into the intake, and still should be venting some pressure.any help would be greatly appreciated in advance

any pictures? it sounds like you hooked vacuum to the crankcase effectively "sucking" oil into the combustion chamber. maybe its still burning off?
why does your all motor car need a catch can anyways? is it fully built with high compression? i would suggest running 2 lines off the valve cover to a catchcan and thats it. that way you could leave all the factory pcv setup alone

its a b20,they only have the pvc on the valve cover and not the black box on the back like most other motors.
after you run it hard a few times it would smoke a little bit. not like if the rings was bad where it will smoke on acceleration everytime, its just spuratic,so i figured it was building up to much pressure for the valve cover to vent it all
