cracks in the exhaust manifold
what are some of the ill effects of having cracks on your exhaust manifold? How can it be detrimental to a turbo car?
if the cracks are bad enough to allow lots of gasses out then the turbo wont spool as well or not at all. if you just have little cracks in your manifold, then its ok for now but plan on replacing it down the road.
exactly how little is a little crack? Cuz I look at these and it is about a few millimeters in width but the lenth is a good 2 inches or so. It was where one of the welds was made. Also, there is a 90 degree crack the is somewhat bent upwards. This is only on the top too, I'm not sure what's on the bottom.

I have a custom made manifold. I was originally using a ct26 but then swapped out for a t3 and then I had to move the flange over. when I did this, the spot where we welded up started to crack and now it's a pretty large crack that goes right through the wall fo the tubing.
Doesn't white carbon deposits on a part of the manifold means that part has a crack in it?
if there is exhaust gas coming out of any crack, then i'd look at getting a new manifold immediately!
2mm wide sounds pretty big to me - i would be worried - but thats my opinion and i am no expert.
