Default CP piston question.

building a motor and been looking for pistons
def only getting CP's
found some for a b16 for great price.
only question is will they work on GSR rods?
they are carrillo rods for GSR. im asking because i cant find a answer online about aftermarket pistons. found that stock b16 pistons need modified for stock gsr rods but i cant find anything about aftermarket ones.

any help would be awesome. id think that they should work but il ask before i waste some money

How many different rod companies are there?

Not to get off topic but I never heard of that company until today

They make "real" rods. They're not your avarage ching-chong-chow rod that uses cheap nasty steel.

Same here, same problem in 2005.
Has CP revised their design yet?

I think they fixed the problem. I've been using cp since 08 and not had any chipping near the valve reliefs. I even overheated a motor bad enoug to have serious ptw contact on the dyno and the valve reliefs were just fine.

Carillo is part of cp and manley if im. Not mistaken. Good parts

If u are real worried you can ffile down any sharp edges which tend to collect heat

does anyone know if the c clip on the piston matters where the open part is facing? if it suppose to have the open end up or down or left or right.

and yes cp pistons redesigned their piston since they had cracking problems. they are a lot better now.

Once scorn, they are considered junk to me forever!!!

The C-clip opening should be 180* away from the notch, or at least as close as you can get it that way.

Incorrect, CP (Calvert Pankl) bought out Carrillo a few years back. All parts are manufactured in CP's Irvine, CA facility now.

Wow, are you joking? Put the damn opening the opposite side of the notch. It is that simple... If you need a picture then take it to a shop. Round ring goes into round hole.
