Default A couple questions on turbo selection and purchasing.

I am planning to turbo my GSR. I am most likely going to use a Drag mani and down pipe with a tial 38mm WG. I have pretty much decided to go with a T3/T04e 57 trim .63 AR turbo. I was talking to a vendor I know that can maybe get me a turbonetics unit for 450 . I was also eyeing a Garrett one from cheapturbo.com for 550 . But the vendor with the turbonetics told me the Garrett from cheapturbo.com won't work for my plans. Why? Is it the wrong bolt pattern or something?

Either turbo will work for you just fine. They are a variant of the same species.

They are basically the same turbo's.....Turbonetics offers different stage wheels and such but they use garrett parts, Either turbo will perform identically unless u get a turbonetics version with a different stage wheel then that will change things a little....but as far as a 57 trim w/ .63 turbine and std wheel both turbos will perform identically

Bottem line, the guys is feeding you a line of bullshit

i could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure turbonetics turbos use the 360 degree bearings, while the cheapturbo.com turbos use the 270 degree bearings. i know of a couple dsm guys locally that have had their 270 degree bearing'd turbos eaten. just something to think about if you're going to run high boost with a pos bov.

So all Garrett T3/T04e 57 trim .63 AR turbos are the same? I mean one Garrett wouldn't work/fit better than another Garrett due to different bolt patterns or anything?

im not sure what your so caught up on the bolt pattern...... and to be honest i dont really know what you are asking about it. however all Garrett turbos are the same, you can choose different bolt patterns but that is up to you.

all t3/t04e's will have a standard 4 bolt t3 flange. you can choose between a 4 or 5 bolt exhaust/downipe flange.

So I have planing to use a T3/T04e 57 trim .63 AR turbo for $450 new, but I recently found a T3/T4 60-1 for the same price new. I need to know how the two compare. Here is the description from the ad on the 60-1:

Brand New turbonetics T3/t4 60-1 Turbo. With a .62 AR and a stage V compressore wheel. That means 4.5" inlet and 2" outlet. It comes with all necessary oil lines. Also has 02 housing studs already in the exhuast housing. Comes with a polished compressor housing.
Seems like the better deal, but would this be alot bigger in comparison to the T3/T04e 57 trim .63 AR turbo? Like as in too big for my stock block GSR to spool? Are there any questions I should ask the seller? Which turbo would be better for me?

I want to try to jump on this if its a good deal but I just don't want to be over anxious and end up with something that doesn't spool till 6k, thanks for any help.
